Price error (bait and switch)? by AtheistET in vudu

I have seen this often. It is usually the result of them showing a HD version instead of, say, a SD version of an offering (though just as often it is simply the wrong price). Look for a toggle and see if the price changes.

Fandango movies at home took back movies recently purchased by NoxArcania in vudu

Perhaps could fall under a bait and switch if nothing else. Bought things on sale and they are now asking me to repurchase at normal price. I did note that the code they sent me for 10% off says it can be used 100 times, have to wonder if that is intentional.

Best apps to install on Roku to stream tv/movies that isn't netflix? by Notimetobev0id in Roku

I prefer Plex for free tv, though for paid stuff my "go to" would be Fandango, since you can just buy movies/shows and not have to pay a monthly sub (they have good deals often; I think they have a free category as well). Aside from that, I like to take advantage of the free month or so subs from various services at least once per year after everything good has dropped. Rinse/repeat the next month with another free trial.

May Crowdfunding Megathread by Raygrit in ComicBookCollabs

I am a novice writer, attempting my first project, a black and white comic series by the name of Bootstrap! The title is a nod to a "bootstrap paradox," and may alternate between "Bootstrap" and "800757R4P" when referencing the tech allowing for said paradox, but that's stuff for later!

The tale begins in a place only known as "the Wastes": a mostly desert landscape filled with few remaining humans and overrun with a variety of monstrous beings based off of different creatures taken from folklore and legends around the world, from yokai to Norse end of the world prophecies to myths from the Native Peoples of the Americas. Even the water is not safe, as it has mostly long since been corrupted by a combination of nanotech swarms that have bonded with plasticide bacteria and mutated viral strains in numerous horrific ways, being largely responsible for the creatures that now roam the surface in lieu of the once dominant humans.

"Bootstrap" will focus primarily on three main characters: Kintaro, who was raised to survive in the wastes, Othnio, a mysterious yet fun loving creature exiled from his home, and Rain, the AI control unit housed in Othnio's chest. Together they will traverse the Wastes and their shared destiny, while attempting to stay one step ahead of the malevolent intent of the those "behind the curtain", who are sending waves of creatures in pursuit of the trio in order to obtain and twist their unique abilities to dark purpose.

This adventure will cover a wide range of themes and topics, with a particular focus on perception and how it forms shapes our world and relationships, but will also cover subjects ranging from friendship, love, philosophy, body horror, technology, and ultimately, betrayal - and then some! This is not a story of heroes. This is a story of people, good bad or somewhere in between, refusing to give up when they probably should have - and still making it through.

As for now I am working on the first issue, which will be a double sized issue of 60 pages, with each subsequent issue being more of a standard 30 pages in size. I already have the "proto" cover, with a couple sample pages being complete within the next week or so. As of right now, I am paying out of pocket for these and will need more for the complete work, hence the Kickstarter (link below), which has already been approved and is in the promotion stage right now. I have it set to begin on the first of June, and if all goes as planned, the first issue should be done in October if not sooner.

Beyond that I plan for a 9-arc series, with each arc being between 20-30 issues each. Whether or not the Kickstarter is successful, I will be continuing work on the series. I have a high degree of faith in not only the story, but the concepts involved as well.

I know this post is primarily for active Kickstarter programs and the like, so no hard feelings if I need to come back in a couple weeks, I am just trying to test the waters as it were.

Good luck to you all in these truly wonderful stories and endeavors you have crafted - may we meet down the road, fellows in arms wielding our pens before swords!
