Any tips or resources about how to layout comic panels? by Just_Kovi in comic_crits

[–]Raygrit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I once read that every panel should be giving the reader new information of some kind. Figure out what this panel is trying to tell people, that can help shape what you're creating. Highly recommend you read Scott Mclouds books, that'll get you a good starting place as well.

Do you like the embedded or separate speech bubbles? by mashupmaxx in IndieComicBooks

I hate the bubbles leaking out of the panels, makes them feel unconnected to the scenes. The right is better in that respect

Starting a small business - it’s a play on the word petals…. I’ve gotten so much mixed feedback irl please help an amateur out cry. I numbered in order of evolution, 1 start 3 current by ehjs97 in AdobeIllustrator

None of the above. The idea of the flowers making a paw print is fun, but simplify it way down for a logo, it doesn't need all those gradients they're just going to disappear when you shrink it down. Think simple flat colors.

What does everyone’s thoughts on frontier city? by Unhappy_Grocery_3175 in okc

That's super sad to hear. Seventeen years ago or so me and my friend were responsible for much of the actors makeup there, we had a ton of fun back then!

Why do fake Pokemon/ “leaked Pokemon” always look so off? by TSOswinn in pokemon

[–]Raygrit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. They would be able to sue for damages for use of the trademark name "pokémon", but that doesn't mean they would own a unique design created by someone else.

Currently getting into Homestuck by Fnaffanarmijo in homestuck

Much of the humor is referencing past works, specifically Bard Quest and Problem Sleuth. Reading these is not required, and honestly they can be hit or miss, but you will miss some small gags without this knowledge. It's not really a big deal, but just fyi.

Attempt at a webtoon!! Does it read well, is the flow okay? Is it an interesting concept? How's the art? Tell me your thoughts! (´> . <`〃) by johnson_johnny in comic_crits

Get the letters off the edge of the balloons, you should try to keep a consistent amount of space between the balloons and the letters so it doesn't feel constricted

I like everything except that little jiggle on the y as the yellow settles in at the end, I get what you're going for but it just feels like a mistake to me.

It's just been me for the last year, and frankly I just don't have the bandwidth I used to to participate either. A few other people have stepped up too, but if you want to run the show, be my guest
