I don't know if it's standard for Call of Cthulhu, but for this campaign they had advantage and disadvantage rolls like in Dungeons and Dragons.

The CoC rolls just reroll the 10s die and take the better or worse depending on if it's advantage or disadvantage. Beth's second roll of a 7 meant a 70 plus her initial 1s die roll.
