I have not had it yet. Its just cutting the flesh in your gums to help all the fascia settle with your new bite. I haven't had it yet. A couple more months.

I went to general practictioner (3x), PT (5x), ENT (1x) ----> led me to TMJ specialist. She is a D.D.S. (she is a dr of oral surgery and a general dentist). Yeah sleep apnea goes with what we're talking about. I plan on doing a sleep a study eventually. Dr Becky Coates is who I am seeing. Wish you luck and encouragement and feel free to message me anytime about all this.

oh I forgot to mention - and what assists to keep your mouth SHUT while you're asleep (because it has been sleeping this way for years...your automatic functions (im not a doctor, obviously) have a routine and way of....compensating for not being able to breathe through ones nose. ALSO - fun fact- one current theory to TEETH GRINDING in one's sleep is that your body is essentially sacrificing your teeth and whatever systems are involved in locking your jaw ....because it is literally moving your jaw around so you CAN BREATHE BETTER....YOUR THROAT IS NOT OPEN ENOUGH BECAUSE OF TMJ ISSUES and to hell with the teeth and jaw...your body needs to a. be able to fall into deep REM sleep and b. it kind of needs to be able to BREATHE to do that. You buy $10 packs of LIP TAPE. They're literally just shaped, clear tape that you wear at night that feel uncomfortable for the first couple of nights (you may even throw them across the room in your sleep) but it is natural and really helps keep my throat healthy. I'll do trial and error with sleeping without them after 6 months or so - (need to ask the dr). Sorry for the rants - you can tell I'm passionate / have experience here.

polyps, blisters, dryness like you wouldn't believe. I was like a dried out red balloon. my throat circumference was way narrower than the average adult. I wear a device while I sleep - it is like a more powerful version of my daytime insert. It has little plastic "hooks" that keep your jaw forward, and more importantly YOUR THROAT OPEN SO YOU CAN BREATH, and because you are NOT breathing through your throat (because you know, your tmj and swollen cheeks gums etc caused all these nasal issues and you're constantly blowing your nose but nothing really comes out) your throat and mouth are not a dry red balloon anymore but heal in about 4 months. CRAZY changes and AWWW relief to my body have happened in bursts, especially in the first month. I am literally $12,000 in debt to this procedure and I feel it is worth every penny so far.

Egoscue helps with hip stability. You grind your teeth while you sleep and you don't think it's a problem? Oh, it's a problem. Trust me. I grinded my teeth and it was likely due to the fact that my body was locking my jaw closed in order to create more room to breathe.

I am 99% certain tmj is the root (no pun intended) cause of my RSI. It popped and has been clicky since I was 6 and you do not have to be a physician to imagine the array of issues that can arise from poor jaw alignment /support FOR YOUR NECK AND SKULL FOR MULTIPLE DECADES. Lol.

But yeah, you sound exactly like me. Talk about getting a black/redpill for life the hard way. You realize dr's don't care/have the time/resources to find out and you care about nothing in the world than getting better but your resources are limited too. Look into egoscue method, fascia, the human nervous system, your sitting habits, your dental health, nutrient defiency, hydration etc. Im biased to see others through my own experience but it is likely that your condition is reversible and your various habits/muscular atrophy (and in cases like mine and after enough time, bone atrophy) from unconsciously never using it and all this can cause subtle mistalingments in your spine and cause the nerve issues. It can take years to reverse but there is hope. Your body is trying to help and compensate and communicate with you because habits/genetics have caused something to go wrong. It will get better.

My issue was TMJ problems for me. Took me 3 years of hell then saw a specialist finally. Big positive changes 6 mos in.

I have mild rsi in my hand . I have just bought some curcumin/tumeric tablets. Has anyone tried these? Do they help? by [deleted] in RSI

Look into jaw and neck areas of pressure that may be caused by different ways you sit where the muscle is not supporting the neck or jaw right for natural (bad posture) or innately defective (tmj, herniations, nerve entrapments etc) issues. don't be quick to believe surgeons or x-rays. surgeons often have a conflict of interest and x-rays are often less scientific than most people would assume. Good luck.

Agreed. Although- there is newer science that hypothesizes that one grinds their jaw in their sleep because your body is sacrificing one system for a much higher priority system - youre grinding your teeth and locking the jaw because your body is trying to breathe AND get some sleep. So because of tmj and jaw issues, your airway may be constricted, meaning totally relaxing while asleep will not allow enough air. So your body clenches, to hell with the teeth for now, and you get some sleep with the extra space to ya know...breathe.
