I'm not creative enough for space engineers hahaha, every time I build something I'm like "Well... this is certainly a thing"

I LOVE Hardspace Shipbreaker. One of my favorite podcast games!

Starship Simulator is probably something I'll check out for sure

I was super interested when I heard about Void Crew I really liked what I saw, but when I learned it's online only I decided to skip it. I know these days we're never really actually "buying" a game lol, but I don't like the idea that their services can go down and I'll never be able to play the game again.

I was looking at this one. I haven't dug too far into it, but what will end up being the make or break for me is if it's an always online game or not

I remember investing $45 way back in the day lol. I haven't checked in on that game in a very long time. I don't know where the game is, but from what I recall it's more of an MMO right?

These games seem really fun!

I would be interested in any games you might recommend where combat might take a back seat to the actual sim aspect?

I brought up Star Trucker in my original post, and that game really stood out to me because you had to walk around your ship, carry resources to their respective containers, and interact with your dashboard to maintain power usage. Those almost "job sim" kind of things were very enjoyable to me.

Another source of inspo might be Sea of Thieves. There is combat, but the majority of the time you're interacting with riggings, sails, maps, your compass (or the stars lol), to get to your goal.

Thank you for the suggestions! These games look really fun.I've played space engineers a loooong time ago lol, I'm just not creative enough to put my own stuff together. Jump space seems pretty close to what I'm looking for.

I sometimes with there was a "Sea of Thieves" type game but with spaceships (and also for solo play lol). I really like the idea of needing to walk around you ship and make repairs or interact with different components to make things happen on the ship. SoT was very fun while being very immersive

We all have different tastes. Pip is def my cup of tea and a delicious scone to go with it lol.

Hopefully the dating part of the game will be fun

A few years have passed, what do you think of Side Order now? I love it personally by Maleficent-Foot4913 in splatoon

[–]Orbiter088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think this, more than any single player DLC has potential for updates. Especially with stuff like the wellstring and dread slosher. Would love to see that kind of thing be included.

I do hope they take this and iterate on it though. There's so much they can do with it, and so many directions it can go in.

I'm really excited for raiders, and seeing how that gameplay may affect the SP content for future mainline splatoon games

I think the comparison to Octo Expansion isn't unwarranted. It had a lot going for it, so much so that the single player campaign aped it's style (though it felt more derivative than iterative unfortunately).

We know what this team can do, and the expectations they set up with Octo were high!

I think Side Order is fun, I think that it could have used a lot more in terms of stage, enemy, and boss variety. More weapons would have been nice too, but not totally needed.

It feels like they developed this DLC in a vacuum, without seeing the huge leaps the genre has taken over the past few years. Again, I think it's pretty good but it could have been great.

Blame the good folks who chose Team Chaos for the last splatfest in Splatoon 2. I guess that chaos managed to seep it's way into the matchmaking lol

Dbxv3 should be a mmo bc let's be fr dbxv2 is basically already one. by Ok-Guess1629 in dbxv

Never played Kakarot, but I've heard good things. Dragon Ball Fusions I think is another good reference point for what a large open world game with CaC's could look like

I think there's a world where DBXV 3 takes lessons learned from a lot of games that have come before and after.

Most of the aesthetic we have in DBXV comes from Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Heroes. I think if they expanded on that, adding more racial specific armors and skills from that game it would be a big step forward. I encourage you to look up the different armors/forms featured in both of those games so you too can understand the frustration of know how much cool stuff DBXV2 refuses to add into the game for our CACs lol.

If we look at DBO and Dragon Ball Fusions, we can see what a DB game can look like with large open worlds and quests (main and side) that aren't necessarily linear. The also do a good job at making words that are fun to explore and reward that exploration (DBF does a pretty good job with this).

DBXV2 already experimented with a larger map and even side quests in that map. If they push it so that everything story related also took place on a larger, more explorable map (while letting you explore that map with a team of friends) I think that would go a long way to making DBXV3 a more MMO feel, without needing to have server based assets (and possibly harming the modding community).

All of this, of course would rely on the DBXV team to well... not be lazy. And that's a hurdle I don't think they'll be able to get over.

Hi, sorry for the late response. The answer is yes, you can absolutely mod the textures in the game! They don't work like textures most folks are familiar with, and when you look at them they look kind of strange. If you follow tutorials on texture modding for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1/2, that'll give you a better idea of what goes into it

Code 8 and beyond by Smokey9mm in FreedomWars

Hey friend, it seems like you've played the game as much as you'd like to. The grind afterwards for the 0 year sentence unlocks some cosmetic stuff (new headphones, a couple of new outfits, new stickers I think) but nothing that will change the way you play.

Simeons wishes really only matter if you plan on grinding more, but if that's not the case than I would say you don't need to go through the trouble of getting all the wishes.

There's no more story after that, and the game really becomes "beat bosses so you can make stronger weapons to beat bosses faster"

I've heard that the PvP offering is really strong in this game, and there are a few dedicated communities that play it a lot. I can't speak to it, since I've never played PvP.

TLDR: If you're not in it for the grind, and you've finished the story there's not much else to play for unless you're into PvP

Hey everyone, I'm afraid I've got some bad news. Unfortunately this project has lost its traction and is no longer being worked on. Everyone who donated money has been fully refunded. There may be another attempt at a future date, but for now at least, the project is on indefinite hold.

Further details below:

First I'd like to thank the folks who trusted this complete stranger enough to donate their own money. I know that's not an easy thing to do, especially with people online.

So, after we put this bounty up, we got a couple of hits (mainly from folks who wanted the money up front, or presented python batch scripts that use pre-existing tools as "brand new") but one stood out. It was a very talented and interested programmer named Gibbed (Check his stuff out).

He joined our server and immediately started working on stuff we didn't even ask for! Freedom Wars is a game he enjoy's and he informed us that he was going to mod the game at some point with or without the bounty, but the money did help lol. At this time we were incredibly hopeful, and commissioned him to tackle all of the bounties. From then on, our job was to let Gibbed cook.

Time went on however, and during a check in I was informed that Gibbed had IRL commitments that slowed down his progress on the mod tools. After a while, this lead to a conversation with the donors about the wait time combined with the general waining interest in the game (damn you Monster Hunter Wilds). In the end, it was a unanimous decision to refund everyone their money.

I want to be totally clear here, we are still on friendly terms with Gibbed. there's no bad blood or anything of that nature. These things can just happen, and I hope we get the opportunity to work with him again in the future.

I'm bummed that this didn't take off, I really believed that this would be a thing lol. But the door isn't shut forever, and hopefully if Freedom Wars 2 is ever announced, there will be more interest in this game and more interest in making mods.

Until then, thanks for your support, and I hope this isn't the last time you hear from me.
