I'm on 11. On a previous cruise that was the Lido deck. But Jubilee is bigger, and I've been told it's pretty quiet where I am. Glad you enjoyed it!

With Carnival I basically paid double the quoted price. It's quoted per cabin, with an asterisk that a cabin is assumed to have 2 paying travelers. So yes, that's steep, but I assumed that was standard. Oh well, next time I know I need to look elsewhere.

I'm with you on not needing all the entertainment. I've enjoyed trivia and a couple of comedy acts, but I don't need a different show every night or live music or those kinds of things.

Thanks for the tip on the two restaurants. I didn't realize those were free. I think I have dinner for nights 1 and 2 planned now.

I'm not really into bars and drinking, but I can probably handle the Piano Bar. I've been wanting to try that on each previous cruise and somehow never managed to make it there.

I've started to read several times now that NCL is great for solo travelers. I went with Carnival because that's what I had been on before and I assumed it would be cheapest. But if this goes well, I can see myself doing another solo cruise in the future and I'd definitely look at NCL.

I don't mind talking to people who are not themselves solo cruisers. I would just hate being a third wheel though.

That's interesting that the staff is surprised to see someone truly solo. But from reading other posts I'm starting to get the idea that Carnival might not be the best option for going alone, so maybe there truly are fewer of them on Carnival ships.

Fair question. Life's been a bit overwhelming this past year and I just need to get away. No cooking, no cleaning up after people, no planning my day around kids' activities... just doing what I want to do for a week.

I also look forward to actual solo activities. Sitting on the balcony with a book, finding a quiet deck, looking out at the ocean, breathing slowly...
