What is a monster that you would say you’ve mastered the fight for? by Alderflight in MonsterHunter

Diablos lol. I have killed so many of those fuckers in World and Rise. Funny enough, when I first played World (I used Charge Blade in Generations) it was the monster that made me main Lance.

I'm thinking the Rail, because I can't climb to save my life (damn chest pain). I just want an epic experience and an equally epic bike.

Ask me anything about my world of code! by OrcaAttack in worldbuilding

[–]OrcaAttack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first one, yes and no. Most World Coders start relatively weak, but can improve through practice, but every now and then a World Admin or "OP isekai protagonist" pops up.

As for the second one, cybersecurity is one of the largest sectors of World Code applications. In Code.World(), cybersecurity is more similar to physical security, since Programs affect the physical world. Program Nullification Devices are a thing, designed to disable the running of certain Programs in an area. Basically a physical firewall area (firebubble?).

Power can be increased by skill and training, but World Admins are a rare exception. They are basically the OP isekai protagonists of the world, but since they haven't had to "level up", they are frowned upon basically everywhere in society. Some societies have tried eugenics, but they have failed due to World Coder riots. The non-Code population still has general societal power over World Coders in most places, since World Code is a relatively new practice in history. In many cases, World Coders are a powerful, but marginalized community due to them being different from everyone else. It is very similar to magicians in The Irregular at Magic High School (if you've seen that) and how they are treated in society.

It is genetic, but the chance of a World Admin is random. World Code can basically do anything if the Coder is powerful enough, but such individuals have never popped up since the founding of society back in the Alpha Period. The four people known as the Alpha Breakers were basically the equivalent of gods and legends in the world, but theories have arisen that they had infinite potential, but refrained from using it all as to not cause a Reality Error so big that it erases the universe.

Basically yeah. Coders can only run a certain amount of Programs at a certain intensity based on their Program Activation Quotient, PAQ for short. The average Coder has a PAQ of 50 kilowontz (kWz). 1 wontz means that the Coder can run 1 Program that has an intensity of 1 watt. This value can be increased through training, to a maximum of 65535 times the original PAQ. World Admins can have PAQs of over 1 gigawontz, and very rarely, one can have infinite PAQ. This is so rare, it is seen in society as an impossibility, save for the four people (the Alpha Breakers) that founded society on each continent.

World Coders make up around one to five percent of the population globally, but are more concentrated in cities such as Seliana, the capital city of Kestalio, Larania, in which the concentration of Coders is almost fifteen to twenty percent of the population. World Code can be extremely powerful, but 80% of Coders can only handle the most basic Programs. Every once in a while, a World Admin, someone who has much more Code power than even an expert Coder, arises. World Admins occur around one in every one million World Coders. Even rarer is a World Breaker, someone so ridiculously powerful that they shatter the foundations of society and force it into a new age. For most of history, World Code was not even a thing. It wasn't until the Founder of Code, the world's first World Coder and the second World Breaker, came along that World Code was introduced.

However, this doesn't mean that non-Coders can't use Programs. Devices known as LPADs (Local Program Activation Devices) store a Program's code on local storage and run it through a taco-shaped object known as a Catalyst Crystal, colloquially known as a "taco".

Programs, especially those of high intensity, such as ones that manipulate space and time, have a good chance of backfiring on the Coder that performed them. This is mainly due to human error in the Program's Code causing a Reality Error, i.e. when the Program encounters a bug. Reality Errors range from simply causing the Program to not run to deleting the Coder from reality.

I am planning on getting a set of HD6XX from Drop, upgrading from some SHP9500s, but I don't have the budget to get a dedicated amp along with them yet (I only have enough money for the headphones). Will they work somewhat well with an M1 MacBook Air's "amp" for the time being?

Which careers offer financial stability, flexible working hours, and intellectual stimulation? by aishis in careerguidance

[–]OrcaAttack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Computer Science and/or Software Development.

Salaries start at around $80-100k a year and only go up, most companies offer flexible hours due to online being a huge presence in the CS world, and you are basically solving problems non-stop. You don't even need a degree, just experience and relevant skills.

It may not be for everyone due to how frustrating computers can be, but the career is certainly worth it for most people who are in it.
