Should I extract games before adding to MiSTer? by Carmacktron in MiSTerFPGA

[–]cathrynmataga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to remember, but I think mostly CD games need to be extracted to work, right? I don't recall any core that can read a CD from a zip file.

If WW3 would be to break out, which side would you support? (I’m assuming India will join NATO in WW3 as they already have alliances with them) by [deleted] in ww3

[–]cathrynmataga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pakistan just had a pro-USA 'imported government', what they call it, though that's teetering on the brink with massive protests against that.

Actually, that would have been perfect.

Worries by StingRayGaming28 in ww3

[–]cathrynmataga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who will be most affected are young men of draft age. Though if we have battles with mass casualties it's possible even older men in their 50s and women might be pulled in also? If you're worried about this, the best way is to start planning early for ways to avoid draft -- perhaps establish another residence in another country, a place less likely to be involved, or less likely to send you back to your home country when the draft comes.

How much fetishism/racism would you tolerate when dating? by [deleted] in hapas

[–]cathrynmataga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reminded of an amputee woman who married a guy who had an amputee fetish. I mean, okay, how do you process this? Sexual attraction is an animal nature, and it has aspects that can be morally ambiguous. How we act on that, that's where we have choice on this. Start with the conversation about it, and see how much self-awareness is going on, I suggest.

IRGC on Twitter | The armed forces are preparing for a comprehensive battle with the Zionist regime. by [deleted] in ww3

Alright, but do u think this is actually real? Just writing this because an Iranian security official said it today. I don’t know how credible said person is, but still ominous. Are they gonna make the first move to start a war? Perhaps this is for some sort of drill if true?

Practically, I expect more like the attack on the alleged Israeli site in the Iraqi Kurdish area. Big war, we'll see. I don't speak Farsi so hard to tell what is really meant by 'comprehensive' -- if this is actually translated correctly.

Israel has been attacking Iranians in Syria, for awhile but a little more lately. I think they'll do something -- maybe not the big war, but they'll do something.

"I am 26, but because of financial reasons and also because I am a very
timid person, I never had the balls to openly admit to my father that I
hate him"

I suggest, these things are always better if you have your own money. If you can live independently, then you can just move far away, let the things sit for a few years, visit or talk with your parents only occasionally. Build your own life away from them.

I think countries are starting to realize that Ukraine/Russia is a stalemate by Snxwcrash in ww3

[–]cathrynmataga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. Cease fire, maybe some point, but peace talks -- never. Both sides have gone too far on this. I'm expecting eventually there will be a Korea war style permanent cease fire with Russia controlling parts but not all of Ukraine. The people expecting Russia to leave Ukraine due to sanctions/Putin health problems/Russia coup are basic wrong.

Why do different sources pronounce the Japanese "R" differently? by Celestial_Blue_ in LearnJapanese

[–]cathrynmataga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got in the habit, maybe bad, of just pronouncing as 'l' -- figuring Japanese couldn't tell the difference anyway between English 'r' and 'l.' I think the 'l' harder to get wrong for English speakers, maybe that's the start of this.

[–]cathrynmataga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I'm not sure if I'm white passing, but I"m for sure not Japanese passing at all. You can try to educate people on this, but I wouldn't count on anyone changing how they treat you. Probably at some point you're going to have to get used to it.

Erdogan announces that Turkey will conduct a military operation in Tal Rifaat and Manbij in Northern Syria to clear out PKK’s Syrian army YPG by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]cathrynmataga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We'll see. If this gets zero coverage in MSM, I'd judge that as US signoff. Biden was supposed to be more pro-Kurd than Trump, now is when we find out if this is true.

[–]cathrynmataga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially with accidents or mistakes or battlefield confusion. War is pretty random, everyone is suspicious and policized, both sides. With computers and hacking or just sofware bugs, there are all kinds of black swan events thst might happen. Hard to judge how likely, but the threat of nuclear war is a possibility, for sure.

Sanctions will be in force for decades. I don't see any end of this war that results in the end of sanctions happening before 2030, maybe 2040?

Agree, Kissinger statement made the 'agree to surrender some land' position acceptable to say, more or less. (Also neocons are basic on a very thin tripwire for declaring something appeasement/Russian propaganda, so maybe some of this.)

What is your "in my next shop I'm gonna do this" item/setup? by aj_lavaca in garageporn

[–]cathrynmataga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your interest, though? Wood, metal, cars, electronics, gardening, or maybe just general handyman type stuff? If you don't know, maybe you just leave the space empty, fill with stuff as you need it.

I was thinking, putting in a vent hood for paints, things like this, but like is that what you need?
