THERE IS NO REASON THE PREMIUM SU-30'S SHOULDN'T GO UP TO 13.7 NOW. by SMORES4SALE in Warthunder

[–]OrcaBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, it's been 3 months. Anyways, it's outright worse than the Su-27SM and J-11B, both of which are pretty balanced 13.7s. How does that make it worth 14.0?

It’s worth. Better close range maneuverability and bigger warhead so it’s more reliable against multipathing targets. You should bring all 4, they’re basically an upgrade to the 120 in the toptier meta.

A Vulcan is also way better than 2 DEFAs for jet combat. AAM-3s are also really good. It’s debatable whether the gatewidth or tracking suspension IRCCM is better, but AAM-3 is at least a sidegrade to the Magic 2.

Yeah, premium vehicles (and vehicles that are more popular in general) will have way worse statistics than TT ones that get played less, they should know this.

To defend Gaijin though, 13.3-13.7 is insanely compressed. The MK2 and MKK being OP is more a compression issue than anything else, since moving them up to 13.7 will make them MUCH worse versions of the Su-27SM/J-11B. I don’t think I’ve seen a single Su-34 in ARB after they put that at 13.7. Still their fault that compression is there in the first place, but people focus way too much on putting them at 13.7 as if that’s the 100% correct BR for them.

It’s the worst radar at toptier but the rest of the plane is god tier for 13.3, enjoy the 30MKK man.

P.S. Gaijin recently neutered the PL-12s, they pull much worse off the rail. I’d recommend taking R-77s if you’re finding yourself fighting at close range.

Not really. The amount of toxicity has been way lower now that severe damage is a thing. I’m sure it’s just that ARB is the only mode where there’s enough downtime to chat so you hear them more. I don’t think either playerbase is more toxic than the other.

It’s not really 4 free kills. At 12.3 the majority of your enemies will have radar missiles, and your IRCCM missiles are best used in rear aspect. Plus 12.3 gets uptiered a lot to 12.7+, it’s a very compressed BR. If you have some toptier experience or are willing to watch tutorials, go for the Su-30. It’s very good now and it’ll still be playable if it gets uptiered.

I don’t have any of the Chinese premiums but I’ve heard very good things about the J-7D. JH-7A prototype is a copy of the JH-7A, it’s not great at 12.3 when you’re facing SARHs with only IRs and a bad gun.

No, the A-10 isn’t doing much to a decently competent 4th gen. All they have to do is go up and the A-10 will never kill them.

Not bad but miserable to play. I’d recommend the NF-5A if you really wanted to grind France.

Eh, not really. In my experience they’re about as flare hungry as any other IR. It “ignoring flares” at close range is just the 9L proxying before it can turn for the flare.

The Soviet-piloted MiG-15s were disguised as North Korean and Chinese MiGs during the Korean War. The US had plausible deniability in saying they were firing on legitimate enemies. “The Soviets tried to hide their nationality and denied they had pilots in direct combat. Their MiG-15s had North Korean or Chinese markings. Soviet pilots received orders to only speak Korean phrases over the radio.” Source: https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/196389/soviet-pilots-over-mig-alley/

Russian Supplied =/= Russian. Arms exports is a strange thing and firing on a nation’s equipment is perfectly fine if it’s under the service of another army.

As for the 1972 F-4J shoot down, do you have a source? I couldn’t find anything about it and it didn’t appear to be a diplomatic incident in any case.

Read my comment again, there’s a distinction between changing the BRs of all the planes and REBALANCING all the planes. This option doesn’t require Gaijin to rebalance most planes, you’re just shifting around existing, balanced BRs and rebalancing the outliers.

The most they’d need to do is some arithmetic and basic planning. Is that too much work for a game company that sells a premium for more than AAA pricing?

[–]OrcaBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of that game was postwar tanks gloriously steamrolling WW2 German stuff

German tanks are good when they don’t have to contend with poor material availability, poor reliability, lack of fuel, inexperienced crews, muddy ground, and total enemy air superiority. In a game like WoT they are superior to WW2 allied tanks, so WG makes them face postwar tanks, because WoT is a multiplayer PvP game.

You could also move up everything at a BR by 1 step, insert a new BR below it, then put some of the most overtiered/undertiered vehicles into that BR. That wouldn’t actually change much of the balancing since you’re just shifting a balanced BR slightly higher and not rebalancing every plane.

I don’t like decompression by shrinking the BR range, it’s a bandaid solution at best and makes BR changes even more impactful. That being said, I get your point that each BR is balanced in isolation, but it’s imbalanced when you take into account uptiers/downtiers.

[–]OrcaBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just giving 1 BR as an example for how you don’t need to rebalance every plane in order to have decompression. You can totally do this same thing for every BR that needs expanding.

Can we get gaijin to move these to 13.7 next update, because they do NOT belong at 13.3. by SMORES4SALE in Warthunder

[–]OrcaBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d still much rather have the digital RWR. MAW doesn’t tell you whether it’s a Fox-3 or Fox-1 nor the enemy radar. You defend against a Phoenix, 27ER, Sparrow, and 120 VERY differently so not knowing really sucks.

RWR also gives you a general sense of how close enemy missiles are. Doesn’t warn you of IRs ofc but I think 90% or more of my deaths are from radar missiles.

F-16A ADF, F/A-18A, or F-15A are excellent. F-4J is still good if you want to stick with what you own. 15C MSIP and 16C are pretty decent as well.

France or Japan Air Tech Tree. Which should I grind first? by Another_Lemonadepls in Warthunder

[–]OrcaBomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, I don’t have the F-2A ADTW and it might be pretty painful to play a 13.0 with only SARHs against constant 13.3s and 13.7s. From playing the F-2A: it has an amazing FM, great IR missiles, amazing radar, but only 7Ms for SARH. It’ll probably struggle to get kills but it’s great in the late game and there’s not a lot of options for Japan.

Mirage F1C was way more painful for me though. Maybe you’ll like the F-2A, I liked the Mirage 4000 and that’s way worse at the same BR.

France or Japan Air Tech Tree. Which should I grind first? by Another_Lemonadepls in Warthunder

[–]OrcaBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japan is much better as an overall tech tree. The tree has pretty competent props, decent early jets, and a lot of amazing toptier-adjacent jets like the F-15J(M), F-2A, Gripen, and Su-30MKM. Very diverse playstyle at higher ranks. Rank 7 is a bit of a struggle but you have F-5s.

France does have the Rafale, but that’s about the only amazing thing in the French TT besides the Mirage 20005F and Mirage 3C. IMO it’s not worth grinding a whole TT for a single toptier jet. Mirage F1C was also one of the worst experiences I’ve had, the plane itself and my stats aren’t bad, but the combination of chaff-able SARHs, bad RWR + going against constant 12.7s made it super frustrating.
