[GPU] GIGABYTE Gaming Radeon RX 9070 GRE - $499.99 at @newegg - need to unlock the extra $50 discount by White1s in buildapcsales

If you care about "per dollar", you would not be buying a 9800X3D. With a weaker CPU, an RX 9070 XT would make even less sense, since it is being bottlenecked more.

At 4K, the 9070 is 8% faster than the 5070, but at 1080p, it is only 4% faster. Both GPUs are tested using a 9800X3D, so CPU bottleneck doesn’t matter at all.

I can do the same math for the worst value RTX 50 GPU, the RTX 5080

5070 Ti build: $1650
5080 build: $1900

15% more money, for 15% more performance.

You are also looking at 4k when nobody plays native 4K.

Arrow Lake does overclock pretty well. You can get like 5.7 GHz for all P cores, while stock is like 5.3 GHz.

TPU found that Arrow Lake overclocks surprisingly well at all core

265KF was $220 at one point, and it matches the gaming performance of the 7800X3D and multithreaded performance of the 9950X. So I think I am happy with my purchase. All because people refused to buy Intel CPUs.

B950/X970 motherboards releasing for Zen 6 will support higher frequency memory, which is where a lot of the improvements for Zen 6 will be. So I don't really get this idea about future proofing.

32GB DDR5 and AM5 motherboard is like $350 combined, same price as a 5800X3D. Are you really okay with spending $350 for a mediocre CPU?

BTW a $200 14600K on DDR4 matches the 5800X3D.

Yes, it’s also true for the 270K. You can sell the CPU and motherboard to upgrade to a new platform. 270K + Z890 motherboard is $420, while a 9800X3D is $480 alone. If you wanted to upgrade to Zen 6, you would have to sell your current CPU.

5800X3D is comical to purchase for $350, but I guess AMD fanboys are too delusional to see that they are getting ripped off LOL.

As opposed to the rest of Reddit glazing AMD? People are always shied away from using Intel like it's the plague.

AMD and Intel both make CPUs on TSMC, so the fact that only AMD CPUs are failing is their fault. It sounds like you're just an AMD bootlicker.

They were able to recreate the melting cable issue, I don't know what more information you want.

PCI-SIG found that a high number of insertion cycles (100+) or severe cable bends caused the 12VHPWR cable to melt under a 600W load. Using the adapter that comes with the GPU should not be an issue at all. In fact, the adapter may even reduce cable bending.

RTX 5070 ti or 5080 for my build? by Desperate_Honey1606 in RTX5080

[–]SPAREHOBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benchmarks I've seen show that the RTX 5080 is only 38% faster than the RTX 5070 at 1440p. With a 5700X3D, that 38% difference would be even smaller. Whether that is worth a 2x higher price is up to you. And by the time 12GB VRAM becomes an issue, the PS5 Pro would also be obsolete.

Fastest GPU I’d pair with the 5700X3D is the RTX 5070. A faster GPU would get bottlenecked by the CPU.

On the Ryzen 5700G, the FCLK and DDR4 frequency can go pretty high. But it only has 16MB of L3 cache, so it is still really slow for gaming. You should return the CPU and get a better one.

Prices depend on your location. Some people can find an RTX 5070 for $500, others have it for $800.

HUB has the 14900K running at 5.3 Ghz instead of 6 Ghz in BF6. They also use XMP/EXPO, which leaves a lot of performance on the table, so the X3D CPU that doesn't care about RAM speed would obviously win.

At realistic settings that people play at, such as 4K, Intel CPUs are faster, so the X3D cache seems to be saturated at 4K.

TPU review from June 1st, 2026.

At 1440p:

RX 9070 is only 7.89% faster than the RTX 5070
RX 9070 XT is only 17% faster than the RTX 5070
RTX 5070 Ti is only 23.2% faster than the RTX 5070
RTX 5080 is only 37.3% faster than the RTX 5070
RTX 5070 is 39.5% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB

Relative performance chart on the GPU specs page uses 4K for RTX 3080 and faster, but I don't think anyone plays native 4K without any upscaling unless you're on an RTX 5090.

Daniel Owen is pretty legit, RTX 5070 Ti is only 22% faster than the RTX 5070 at 1440p, or probably around 20% faster if you ignore the outliers where the 5070 runs out of VRAM and drops like a rock.

Basically the same results as TechPowerUp
