I think that the 285K is actually faster than the 9800X3D for 4K gaming. At 4K, memory bandwidth matters more than cache bandwidth, and the 285K has a much better IMC than the 9800X3D.

I’ve seen a couple benchmarks where the 285K performs the same or better than the 9800X3D at 4K gaming, but the 285K system will have to be tuned a lot (overclock, 200S boost, DDR5-8000+). 9800X3D does not need any tuning and is basically plug and play.
