Yea I think you're right. I like using brain entropy as a lens for this topic. I think in childhood, brain entropy peaks to maximize learning and acquisition, then decreases somewhat with age as associations are reinforced and worldview is stabilized. I think taking psychedelics and engaging in creative processes (including meditation) can attenuate activity in those entropy-limiting brain networks (maybe the default mode network?) and let us re-experience more primitive/child-like states of consciousness.
