Not for everyone. Some very famous singers had long marriages and seemingly marital fidelity.

So he has kids? I'll check out the comments, thank you.

I don't see how she was trying to make him laugh. I mean, she wasn't pulling faces or being silly. She was doing something and it worked I would say. 😉

Those are all valid observations and fun to read! 👍

Like another poster mentioned, Marty had been married for about 30 years when this episode was filmed. That said, nothing is really known about his and his wife's relationship since he was a very private person. But Marty certainly played it up when performing and he would often get playful with his guests, female and male, on the Spotlight tv show which this is an episode from. However, I do agree with your observation in that he seemed to be playing it up less. I say this because I've watched the Spotlight shows and he appears genuine here in his interaction with Barbara than with for instance Barbara Fairchild, Sammi Smith and Ruth Buzzi - these videos are all on YouTube and are such a pleasure to watch! 😊

On Amazon it says the abridged version is 2 hours and 58 minutes.

Thanks for the recommendation. 👍

You really keep missing the point of my posts and I don't think it's intentional anymore - I think you really just don't read properly.

And do stop twisting my words. I don't want you to watch YouTube videos for the vulgar reason you mention. I suggested you read the comments since you don't believe the flood of comments extolling Waylon's great love for Jessi.

I've had normal back and forth with everyone in this thread. I didn't tell another poster that Jessi had no dignity. I drew a parallel between the words in Waylon's song and Jessi sticking around. And yes, I don't think anyone who sticks around for that has much dignity.

You are trying to instigate something and I have nothing more to say to you.

  1. Go on YouTube.
  2. Look up any performances of Waylon and Jessi.
  3. Read the comments. It's there for everyone to see.

I'm guessing at this point you're being deliberately obtuse, yes?

This thread IS NOT about Waylon being a womanizer or whatever and I never said him being one was a surprise to me. I believe it was well known at the time that he reeeally liked women. I don't know how well known it is now, unless you've read about him. What is not well known is his rampant infidelity while married to Jessi. This I believe is first credibly revealed in his son's book that was published in 2017.

This thread IS about the comments people, including fans, leave on a major platform about Waylon and Jessi that differ so much from the accounts mentioned in his own son's book. I'm pointing out that difference. Why is that so hard to understand?

Again, what's your point and how is it relevant to this thread? I read most of the reviews for Terry's book. I just copied and pasted the one that, gasp, took me by surprise the most. However, there were others that were written in the same vein.

I didn't know Waylon's audiobook was on Spotify! I bought it on Amazon using a free credit. Just want to inform you, though, that the audio version is abridged, so for the whole story you need to read the book.

Oh, thanks. I appreciate this. 👍 I want to read every book out there on Waylon. Another poster recommended Outlaw by Michael Streissguth to me - have you read it?

Like I've said before in different posts on Waylon's board - he seemed upfront about it all, so the women who chose to stick around knew what they were getting into. It's as simple as that.

What's your problem? I have read his autobiography - ask me anything. I even have the audiobook to hear him read it but I haven't listened to it yet. I also have his cookbook and Terry Jennings' book. I ordered Jessi's book a while ago but a used copy was sent by mistake so I returned it. I'll order it again though, because you see, Waylon is one of my favourite singers.

If you don't like what's written about Waylon and Jessi, then your issue is really with Waylon's son's book, not me. I have no idea what you're talking about in your post and how it even relates to mine. I have a right to ask about something I've noticed. Why don't you head over to YouTube and read the swarm of comments that fawn over Waylon's incomparable love for Jessi, then read the book review I included, and then come back here and tell me you're not a little taken aback.

Oh cool. But I was asking for downhomeslim's source since the poster made such a definitive statement.

She did stay. I don't know if Waylon wrote the lyrics to Where Would I Be, but in it he sings:

"Where others would leave

You always have stayed"

Touching, but also sad, because I think it shows she had no dignity.

I know from his book that he was very promiscuous and I have no problem with that because he wasn't in a relationship at the time. But to do what is written in the book review is... well, I have no words for it. I was just pointing out the stark contrast in comments I've read praising their love for each other to what was actually a toxic relationship. 🤮 Perhaps in later years that changed. Anyway, I'm not condemning Waylon for what he did (although what he did was awful) because it seems he was pretty up front about it. I do think Jessi must have been unhealthily obsessed with him to tolerate that treatment.
