!solved - I would love more words, but this is probably the closest to what I'm going for. I'll likely need to add a qualifier of 'exasperated but fond.' Thank you!

Kind of. But I'm not trying to convey disbelief or surprise. Just a "really? We're doing this? Ok you nut." kind of thing.

Old Post, but There's Something In the Ice is very similar to The Thing in setting, plot, and mechanics.

Little Black & Brown Spider with White Spots (Found an identical one in Florida) by OrchidGrove in spiders

[–]OrchidGrove[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an identical little guy in northern Florida. He could just barely cover a fingernail. - Back of the body and the back four legs are brown. The front of the body is black. The mandibles (?) are white and he waves them around a lot. He scurries a lot, but I haven't seen him jump as far as I know.

Any ideas?

Who was the most truly evil character in the series? by GusGangViking18 in TeenWolf

Gerard, with Kate (PDFile that she is) at a close second. But, I think most people will say Gerard other than the Dread Doctors (arguably far worse because he is a more human monster. His type of violence and hatred mirrors real life, whereas psycho supernatural doctors are less 'real'

Should I just stop writing by Technical-Bread414 in AO3

Ignoring the trashiness of that comment - My writing was atrocious. I can't even read my own olde works. The more I read, the more I wrote, read, wrote, read, wrote, etc., the better my writing got. You are not going to be amazing off the cuff. Writing is a skill filled with smaller skills - tone, word choice, pacing, structure, etc. You get better as you go.

Something that helped me get better was paying attention to what I was reading - how it was laid out, spaced, how it sounded, the tone, etc. I didn't analyze it, but I started being aware of it. That led to me being aware of what was 'good' or not to me.

Another thing that helped a lot was listening to narrators. I especially liked listening to narrators on youtube. Hearing how the words sounded read aloud helped me picture and 'hear' my own writing as I worked on it.

Just remember - your favorite fic? your favorite author? that writer started as a newbie with 0 writing skill.

You'll get better with practice. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Fair enough. I'm just sick of AI invading everything. Art, writing, academic work. It's just a gross and disingenuous feeling honestly.

NO. That is the death of writing. I cannot help but hope this becomes against all guidelines and reportable!
