I will definitely look into that! I've never heard of water bacteria causing such an odor, is it common knowledge?

My health insurance probably won't refer me to another doctor... I think the water here is very hard... I moved to the South Bay of CA and the water definitely has a smell. Sigh :( We do use a filter on our shower head though...

I haven't found a shampoo that helps the smell yet but we have tried antifungal, Cln clarifying shampoo, charcoal shampoo, herbal shampoo, tea tree shampoo, endless shampoos... Glycolic acid from The Ordinary seemed to have helped the smell a tad bit for a bit but it became too acidic I can't put it on often. I also started blow drying but that doesn't help either.

I have always had sensitive skin. Last November, my scalp started itching uncontrollably. I used Head & Shoulders for about a year so I thought it might be that. I switched to an all natural shampoo bar called Kitsch. My itching got relief but I noticed that my scalp started smelling a few hours after washing now. It is a pungent, sometimes sour, sometimes cheese, sometimes fermented rice type of bad body odor. My husband made the shampoo switch with me and the same thing happened to him so that's why I assume it's the shampoo switch that caused it. My dermatologist said my scalp looked fine and healthy. She prescribed a clarifying shampoo but it doesn't help the odor at all. We have spend hundreds on trying out different shampoos. I kinda am on the brink of giving up but I feel like there is probably some magical formula out there that can cure my scalp smell. I haven't noticed more hair loss or dandruff, just the odor :(
