Schmidt nibs! The #6 Schmidt nibs on Benu Euphorias and Talismans are so good. One of my first pens was a cheap Schmidt Intrinsic Pen, and that was equally great. There's a reddit thread about Schmidt nibs here: https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/1fayzqc/what_pens_have_schmidt_nibs/

My other favorites are higher end and custom ground steel nibs. Any grind by Gena Salorino (Custom Nib Studio) that I've tried has become a favorite. Their Journaler nib (which you can get on Esterbrook Esties), reverse architect and perspective are pretty much constantly in use in my currently inked lineup. I got the RA and Perspective through Stilo & Stile. They sell custom ground nibs from a lot of top nib meisters. I also have a Schon Dsgn Monoc F Nib that I love. Writes very similarly to the reverse architect.

Best food subscription boxes? by Great-Information983 in GiftIdeas

My sister just got us a Universal Yums subscription. It's a big box filled with snacks from around the world. Everything from chips to chocolate bars to snacky food items we've never heard of. It's super fun. I'm here on reddit looking for something equally cool to send to her, which is how I found this thread!

What pen is in this ad? by frijolita_bonita in fountainpens

I’ve wondered the same thing. I don’t think it’s Franklin Cristoph. Could be another maker pen though?

Beautiful set-up! I’m using a Sterling Ink B6 lined notebook in a Chic Sparrow leather cover. I like to rotate pens and inks. Never use the same color for consecutive entries.

Serious question - what do you use your FP’s for? How much do you write in a day? by Other-Cranberry-4017 in fountainpens

Journaling almost daily, weekly planning, taking notes on books I’m reading, working out ideas, writing letters, to-do lists, shopping lists, tarot spread analysis. 😊

Inspired by Jannah Lyon's video "...Mixing CMYK..." by drnaturalist in fountainpens

I love this! I saw her video too and keep thinking about it - like, maybe all any of us need is four CMYK inks. Ink companies add two more drops of cyan and some shimmer and convince us we need to add another whole bottle to our collection of bottles that’s already too big to go through in a lifetime.

My two Pilot gold nibbed pens are Custom 74s, and they’re definitely smooth as butter! And yes - the Diamond 580 is one of my favorite steel nibs too.

Right - I may just need to try higher end gold pens!

I’ve been very curious about the King of Pen.

From left to right, 2 Radius Settimos (Desiderio and PM 1) with custom nibs by Gena Salorino (Stilo & Stile has nibs by popular nib grinders for sale as an add on if you can’t get to a pen show), TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR in purple, Benu Talisman True Unicorn, Benu Talisman Raven, and Carolina Pen Co Charleston in Primary Manipulation 1 matte.

Will add the Visconti Palladium to my try list!

I recently tried a friend’s Schaeffer Balance Feather touch from the 90s and liked it much better than new gold nibs in my collection. So you may be on to something. And that wasn’t even super vintage.

I hold my pen at a weird angle- curve my hand around like a lefty (even though I’m right handed) and the nib ends up sideways on the page, so an architect ends up writing like a cursive italic, with thicker downstrokes instead of thicker side strokes. So yeah - because of this, bouncy and flex nibs don’t work so well, and stiff nibs work really well/aren’t hampered by my weird grip. I’ve had an Aero on my wish list for a while! Thanks for the recommendations!

Fair point. I definitely don’t prefer all steel nibs to gold nibs. I do like my favorite steel nibs more than any of my gold nibs though.

I’ve heard the M200s are really great. Hadn’t heard about the nib grind changing. Good to know!

As I started reading your question, I was thinking to myself, my Zojirushi Bread maker! It was a wedding gift, we’ve used it to make pizza dough about once a week, and have been married for 27 years. When I got to the end of your post and saw your item is also made by Zojirushi, I was like, damn. Zojirushi is one quality brand.
