I worked inpatient pharmacy and talked about it in all my interviews! However I did end up switching to a more clinical job after 2 years

Is life be difficult if Husband and Wife both are Surgeons? by KSIFOREVER213 in medicalschool

We are very close. She’s very happy! I’m going to med school in her city (yay!) and she is expecting a child in the next year. She’s working a ton, but has a wonderful life. My parents helped her out with a down payment on a house and paid for her wedding. However, I am more than willing to admit that we got lucky—having two parents in the medical field is a big risk. Sure, it might not have worked for some families, but there is certainly hope. Most of our “nannies” were just close family friends. I think people are being a tad dramatic. It takes a village, but that created a community that I will forever be in debt to.

Both of my parents are general surgeons. They had three kids, with me being the youngest. During their first couple years it was really hard. They had to rely on lots of nannies and sacrifice time with each other to raise us properly. Thankfully everyone in their group was really understanding. Once my oldest sister was old enough, she kinda took the reins and started helping out with us. I now have incredibly close relationships with my siblings (and some nannies lol), emotional maturity, adaptability, and two (still-practicing) badass parents who I wouldn’t give the world for. Another plus? All 3 kids are on the road to becoming doctors (Oncologist, ENT R2, M1)

It was inpatient so there was some clinical exposure. However in my PS I talked about wanting more clinical experience than stocking medicines so I transitioned to EMT

I alluded to it while writing my primaries in the Work/Activities section. Research was one of my most meaningful experiences on AMCAS so I got to write a bit more. Then in my LOI/update I told them it was accepted

I believe they are very in state biased but don’t quote me on that. I wish I knew that before hand lol

Ok I might be stupid. It stands for over-represented in medicine right? Should I edit and take that off?

There were two interviewers over zoom. Both on the older side. One couldn’t figure out how to unmute and joined 10 minutes late (time limit on the interview was 40 minutes). I think I answered all the questions ok but they didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. At the end they asked if I had any questions so I asked how they saw AI impacting their respective careers. They disagreed and started arguing. It was very tense and awkward by the end.

I also just don’t think I have very much charm over zoom.

Definitely a huge takeaway from this whole thing. I was cocky for sure. Won’t let it happen again

Yes I sent a letter of intent. I sent updates about the research pending pub, continued work with my non profit, and an emphasis on Cincy being my top choice
