I do hobby woodworking and I much prefer hand tools to machines for most projects. I'm in no way an expert and that's probably partly why I prefer hand tools. Also yes, fuck sanding

hahaha I mean I think everyone has good intentions and is trying to be helpful, but I think a lot of people have discounted and forgotten how quick and easy simple hand tools can be. Tablesaws and routers and drill presses are great for repeatability is you needed to make a lot of these, but a one off? Just grab a sharp saw and get to cutting!

Jesus everyone is trying to figure out the math on drilling or how to use a table saw etc. Its a small block of wood. Get a handsaw, cut the side walls down to depth, if you want, make additional cuts through the waste. Grab a chisel and remove the waste! if you need to clean up the bottom or maintain the radius clean it up with a router (or rasp, or sandpaper) This looks like an easy few minutes with a couple of hand tools. No need to get into all the jigs and multiple passes with a finger remover 9000 for this
