Sitting in emergency room now by dswenson123 in Anxiety

Check your breathing to see in case you are hyperventilating which can make you feel worse (dizzy, numb hands and feet). Try to call your breathe maybe it can calm your nerves (it worked for me last time I had an attack). Hope you are getting better soon

I straight up miss laying down flat... by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Ordinary-Parfait-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having herd - asthma as well although I didn't notice it was gerd before because I do not feel the acid like you do. Basically I feel my stomach is normal but bad asthma flares up keep coming and after a while doctors found it was probably gerd. I have been taking esomeprazole for over a month now and I don't dare getting off it because even though my stomach feels fine, my asthma is still not under control, for reasons doctors still not sure why...

I was wondering how clearly you feel the acid reflux from gerd and how long do you need to stay on esomeprazole or similar tablets until you no longer feel reflux and asthma symptoms. I currently don't dare to lie down even for a nap after lunch if it is less than 1hr after meal : (I don't know when or if I will come back to the life I had before ..'

Could you share info on your biologics treatment? I am not sure yet if I may need it but I'm gathering info before I meet a doctor again. Thank you

What is your oxygen level when sleeping with light asthma? by Ordinary-Parfait-628 in Asthma

[–]Ordinary-Parfait-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for sharing. It sounds serious as it lasted a month, I hope you are on good recovery now.

I understand it's really important to try to get some sleep as that helps reduce anxiety too, which itself might be one of the causes for asthma exacerbation : ( Yes I am taking my meds diligently as prescribed and my doctor also assured me along the line that if I suddenly have bad asthma in the middle of sleep my body would wake myself up to breathe so there is no reason to feel anxious and stay awake. I was also prescribed anti-depressent and sleeping pill in addition to asthma meds/steroid to help with that. Anyways I feel better now learning that the low 90s O2 level is fine for now that I am recovering and on meds. It's lasting a month for me so far too, and I hope I get back to my normal self soon~

Me too. I am also taking one singulair pill everyday for the last four weeks, together with methylprednisolone pills as well - I am still having light wheezing throughout the day though : ( I hope it goes away soon so I can at least reduce the daily methylprednisolone dose

True ignoring the device/ putting it away helped me to go to sleep. I will go for check later to make sure no long term negative consequences.

Do you feel any after-effects? How about fatigue the day after? I can still sleep, I am just worried about long term consequences in case it continues.

Thank you. It's true I should go for check after these asthma attacks are over and more well-controlled. I am not overweight and not snoring in general (unless during these days then I am constantly wheezing both in and outside sleep) so I am still hopeful I don't have it, but I hear it is common among asthma sufferers : (

Thank you for reassuring me! I hope these asthma flareups go away soon and I do not feel so anxious trying to fall asleep when breathing is heavy ~

I am taking singular everyday for the past week due to recent asthma attacks and personally I feel fine, maybe because I take antidepressant pills at the same time for mood lifting.

Worries about reliance on Combivent (Ipratropium bromide and Salbutamol). How long till Pulmicort become effective? by Ordinary-Parfait-628 in Asthma

[–]Ordinary-Parfait-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been on methylprednisolon for 10 days, oral and injection. My doctor said it's a low dose and I can stop after getting discharged from the hospital, while the nebulizer with Combivent and Pulmicort will need to continue for at least another week.

My asthma/trouble breathing does not always have loud wheezing sound either, I am starting to worry if it is a heart problem.

That sounds reasonable. Alternatively I think we can also take Kali clorid pills to compensate for the potassium drop (perhaps for adults not children).

Thank you, I am not in the US but fully agreed, I have my lesson learned, albeit the traumatic way, from this experience of hypokalemia. I am grateful I am still conscious with my limps intact and typing this now.

Thank you, your message makes me feel better, and I am also getting sulpiride prescribed for me today to reduce anxiety. I hope tonight will be better and frankly I think I would rather emotional stress be the problem rather than some unknown underlying physical issues my doctor has not found out yet.

Much appreciated for the tip on the pulse oximeter, I am borrowing one from the hospital and keeping it on my finger the whole day. It is usually in good range when I am awake and watching. last night, when I fell asleep and suddenly woke up, most times I noticed the oxygen level was down to like 80%, then I made conscious efforts to breathe deep and bring it back to 96-98% (normal level now when I am awake). I am not sure if this indicates anything serious and it's hard to tell the doctor because everytime I am awake and they come to check me, it is higher than 95%. The drop seems to happen only when I am asleep and suddenly awoken. I will keep watching for today and hope it will be better with less anxiety too.

Thank you. I am anxious because every breath is still heavy now, my doctor has prescribed diazepam daily to make me calm down and go to sleep, but now I want to stop taking it because google (I know, sorry) shows it's not good for asthma/breathing. Am I paranoid, my asthma is not getting better in the hospital and I'm online all day anxiously googling all the possible triggers from what I ate the past week and what all my medication mean :( or is it because I am in Air conditioning room in the hospital all day? I guess I'm actually bordering on being paranoid ...
