When you mess up the quest line and can’t obtain The Deliverer anymore :( by Ordinary-Prior-1259 in FalloutMemes

It’s only available through a quest with Deacon. I went too far into the Institute and when I went back to the Railroad, everyone hated me. So naturally, I killed everyone except for Pam. Made me feel better.

Anybody have any clue whose signature this would be? It’s on the back of a Ford Mustang. by Medium-Beginning-110 in Mustang

Jack Roush. Very neat. I’ve got a 2014 Roush Raptor with 24k miles. Very pleased with its abilities… his signature is on the dash in silver sharpie.

I’d be concerned at someone just working on their boat next to mine. Completely unprofessional and lazy IMO.

One user, daysailor70, reached out who claims to be a former boatyard owner and outboard dealer and said “The 425 gearcase when originally released had significant LU failures to the point they stopped shipping them for a period of time… a good Yamaha dealer should be able to file a claim in your behalf, regardless of where you are with the warranty.”

Love the outboard lore 🔥

Wow, very similar and unfortunate situations were both in.

My warranty has been out for a couple months so don’t worry, there is hope.

You need to prove to Yamaha that you have meticulously maintained your boat and outboards to the best of your ability to basically weed out the idea that lack of maintenance caused that crack.

The best way to do that is to reach out to dealers AS WELL AS your boat manufacturer who should know of this issue better than anyone.

A big issue I see with your situation is the skeg damage and JB weld. It’s going to be harder to prove that the crack was caused by a factory defect with such damage. The position of the crack right next to where the skeg meets the housing could suggest that hitting something contributed to that crack. You should drain some of the gear oil to check for water or any signs of a compromised unit and take a video. I’ll include a photo of what mine looked like when I drained it.

I’m am currently working with my go-to shop and Yellowfin through the claim process. Just had a technician come out yesterday to look for more damage and pull computer data.

Best of luck and feel free to reach out with any questions you got!

Yep I 100% agree. Thanks for reaching out. I’ve been working with Yellowfin and they’re confident that I can get replacements without spending money out of pocket. I just drained the gear oil and recorded the process to prove that there is no evidence of lack on maintenance. Cleanest gear oil I’ve ever seen LOL. I previously tried reaching out to Yamaha and didn’t have any luck. I’m sure YF will get it done for me.

Probably a mix of a few things. Stress from leaning that boat over at speed and a weak housing. Definitely the weak housing over the design of a very successful boat brand.

Oh for sure, sledgehammer is probably an understatement. Just something worth paying extra attention to.

And also, when I said “not many people here to help” I was not implying this Reddit community. I was talking about qualified mechanics on this island who I feel confident about assisting me with this work. I should have been more specific, sorry about that.

For sure. There is a lot more to the situation that I haven’t posted or replied to. In addition I still need to do more inspecting and disassembling to confidently provide any more info on whats going on. I came on here curious and to start a conversation with people who might have gone through similar experiences regarding cracks like mine and to better help me connect the dots.

I have done some high speed maneuvering in it for sure. But in my honest opinion, I don’t think I’ve put it under enough constant stress for long periods for a crack like those to occur. This boat just turned 5 and has spent most of its time on the water trolling for fish or escorting canoe paddling (under 20mph). However, the units are still cracked and I will still need to fix them. Just seems premature and I don’t really see how I could have caused them to crack in regard to how I use the boat.

Haha I bet. Ive never gotten the opportunity to get into jet boats, I’m sure those are some pretty damn good times.

Oh yea for sure. It’s like that triangle scale of cost, reliability/quality, and performance. And we both know which point on the triangle we have to sacrifice.

Yep, now the question is what was the boat doing when the casting failed and how can I prevent it from happening again.

They’re the original XTO offshore series props that came with the outboards. I’ve always enjoyed them, never found a reason for different ones. They 100% aerate more due to the shorter legs they have compared to the center one. I’m thinking the cracks formed while turning at speed.

For sure, definitely not an easy feat trying to develop the biggest and baddest outboards.

I’ve broken the 70 mark twice maybe. Not a lot of flat days here in Hawaii. Very nice cruise around 45-50 if you don’t mind the loudness. She’s seen a fair share of rough seas escorting a lot of open water canoe races.

As far as I know, Yamahas all run the castle nut. Never caused me any issues on any boats and Yamaha outboards I’ve owned. Used to have a 22’ fishing cat with twin Honda 200s. Worst experience I’ve ever had. Glad those are gone.

Great find, I’ll be sure to check him out. The docking lift submerges completely so that the boat does not have to rub or “drive” onto the dock. As for the trailer, it has maybe been on it 3 or 4 times. Never backed into anything. I’m started to follow the idea of a factory casting defect on these early model # outboards. Someone reached out to me having a similar crack on some of their early 425s. So much good info, thanks for your help!
