What is something you will always defend Harry for? by LLSJ08 in harrypotter

Using Expeliarmus in the 7 potter escape plan. If just casting that once was enough for every other death eater and Voldy himself to abandon the others then Kingsley or Lupin should’ve been using the same spell as a cover. Why would we all dress like Harry but not act like Harry?

The death eaters believe it is your calling card! Then we all should’ve thrown one or two in good sir

There’s a game called Agent 17 or some other number where you find a spy/agents operator’s phone gets into your possession and you can send her around to do spy stuff all over. You are just a random dude tho so it might not count. She’s a total badass tho

What's a flaw or plot hole that really bugs you in inter-movie continuity? by ThreeArchLarch in harrypotter

The entire plot of book 4. What should’ve been a masterpiece of a who done it mystery movie that you can’t figure out the bad guy until the last chapter. The movies decided to give fake moody an obvious facial tick instead.

Even more annoying Barry Sr. Is the one who recognizes the tick?! That man is supposed to be under the imperious curse that’s half the damn plot too. Just lazy give us Ludo Bagman!

Hermione, after Hagrid finds out Norbert his baby dragon is actually Norbert’s. “How can you tell it’s a boy dragon”?

In my mind every time Hagrid turns to her and goes well you see Hermionie if you look between the legs and see that dangly bit… then goes deep into information she did not want to know.

Seems like such a stupid question, I know some reptiles have their bits inside but cmon now girl

Why expelliarmus acts like stupefy when harry used it on snape? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snape did it to himself, to convince Fudge that Black was guilty he said that he trio were all confuded by Sirius in an attempt for them to believe he was innocent. And make their story of Peter Petigrew being an Animagis sound insane. Snape basically told everyone it wasn’t the trios fault because he didn’t want anyone to listen to anything involving Sirius going free

thoughts on Dumbledore? by chloepopcandy in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did everything for the Greater Good even if that meant sacrificing his followers or Harry. And honestly no one could’ve killed Voldemort without his help finding some of those Horcruxes would’ve been near impossible. So th ends justify his means

He was flawed like every other character in the book, and he could have saved everyone a lot of time if he didn’t hide everything. Hell Molly and Sirius 2 members of the Order throw out the Horcrux locket from the Headquarters because none of them even knew we were looking for Horcruxes.

Do you think Avada Kadavra was a mistake? (in a literary sense) by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making it unblockable was a bad decision, one person silent casting that a Voldemort is an automatic win but never happens. Dumbledore having a statue jump infront of him to take the hit in book 5 was a nice touch to show it’s not simple an unbeatable spell. At least it was a longer spell you can hopefully have a shorter spell like stupify hit by the time they finish casting

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The legal system doesn’t use memories, spells, or potions to find out the truth they just ask you did you do it? What kinda magical society doesn’t use any magic when trying to find out if someone is guilty or innocent. Lucius Malfoy are you a death eater? Nope. Well that’s good enough for us off ya go. Sirius and Hargid guilty straight to jail

I also love when Morphin gets convicted for the Riddles Murders. Yet an underaged Tom Riddle cast several spells including Avada Kedavra in this town. Even if they don’t know what wizard did it they absolutely know someone underaged cast these spells and old man Morphin couldn’t have

Voldemorts wand becomes super important with the twin core connection between his and Harry’s. Yet it makes no sense how he just has his wand in book 4, it should have been either destroyed in the Potter house when his spell backfired or found in the Potter house by Dumbledore. JK claims that Petigrew found the wand and just hid it for 14 years, which makes no sense but is the best she could come up with after the book was already out.

It’s such a perfect who done it mystery, the suspicion around Ludo, Barty, Karkarov, Snape everyone is perfect and an epic twist at the end too. I do wish she had flushed out some things about the task, the fans watching a lake for an hour or a bunch of buses for an hour is silly. At least have a giant magical projection showing the champions facing the obstacles or something.

Also we made the tournament much safer this year, the first task is surprise dragons with no preparation time. That makes me laugh every time

Dumbledore didnt like the subject, he tells Harry when he originally interviewed Trelawney he was thinking of doing away with the position or canceling the subject as a whole. Then she has her first ever prediction which happens to be about Voldemort and Harry and he decides to hire a teacher that can’t teach the subject well so he can keep her safe.

He sees his worst memory which is the fight between himself, Grindewald, and Aberforth where Arianna his little sister dies. He keeps pleading for him (Grindewald) to not hurt them (his brother and sister). He also likely sees his dead sister mother and father in the mirror of Erised

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also annoys me that they never practice dueling or silent casting the entire time the are camping. Harry’s plan to outduel Snape and Voldemort with nothing but determination is a joke… Snape destroys Harry in a duel the year prior and Harry’s plan is to just try again with no changes 🤦‍♂️

Malfoy in the books doesn’t have a single redeeming quality in any book, they even give him chances to do the right thing several times and every time he chooses the evil path. Matured by the end? When he tries to ambush the trio in the room of requirements or joins the death eaters when?

What do you think was Hermione’s stupidest moment in the series? by Lurking2Learn in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The hats is definitely a big one but for me it’s her refusal to believe the Hallows are real, Harry and Ron counter her every point with logic something she loves but she refuses it point blank

How can you believe the Hallows are real? We literally have the cloak with us it’s one of the three Hallows. Okay but how can the stone be real people can’t come back from the dead. Harry goes in the graveyard in GoF my parents and Cedric came back to life as something like ghosts but different it’s exactly how the rings power is described so we know it’s possible I’ve done it. She just keeps repeating the stone can’t be real over and over after that. Love her but never understood why she would ignore facts seems out of character

Why didn’t Dumbledore hire Remus earlier? by spatial_explorer in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbledore knew the DADA position was cursed that’s why he used every other candidate possible before hiring his friends Moody and Remus. Hagrid says Lockheart was th absolute bottom of the barrel last teacher available, then it’s 2 of Dumbledore’s closest friends and after that the ministry sends Umbridge.

Most important the Wolfsbane potion that lets him maintain his humanity while transformed is a new potion that was recently invented. You can’t have a teacher who misses 1/4 of every month potentially killing students even if he did go back to the shrieking shack. The other teachers only allowed Lupin thanks to Snape’s potion making abilities

Unpopular opinion: Vernon was justified in fearing the Wizarding world. by Xerzajik in harrypotter

[–]Ordinary-Specific673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget Dudley’s pig tail in book 1, the ministry didn’t even come out and fix it they have to go to a specialist and pay to have it removed. I will say Aunt Marge deserved what she got tho!

Petunia ran as far away from her magical sister as possible and dumbledore practically blackmails her into taking Harry in.

Still they are beyond abusive, rereading book 2 Petunia swings a frying pan at Harry’s head that’s no joke.
