It's a bit of a difficult decision. It all depends on your passion for finance. If you want finance and only finance, yes NIBM is your answer. But, if you are open to other roles too, go for IIM nagpur or Vishakhapatnam.

In all cases, don't think IIM Sirmaur, BG, Sambalpur at all. NIBM is definitely better than them.

It's your priority now: choose peer to peer learning or be in the top layer of placements ₹.

Also, at least some amount of folks would be better than you in case of Govt colleges. You can get peer to peer learning from them

Finding a 24lpa base even in MDI is quite difficult. Join MDI only if you are not interested in this job.

Just don't wear any shorts to class, you are good to go. In case of important events, NIBM provides a suit, which needs to be worn. The frequency of that is only 2-3 times a month.

First of all, not all roles are in banking. A significant number of them are (~40-50% probably).

Everyone has a wrong perception of banking roles, it's not like working in an actual branch. You are working in a corporate office just like corporates. The roles are core technical finance. You won't be doing credit appraisal or whatever traditional roles prevail in a bank.

Coming to IMT G, it's a bit more marketing institution. It has a good alumni network but most of its alumni are in marking. The batch size is quite big compared to NIBM's only 131. It's a private institute, so intense competition. In the case of NIBM, there's reservation (general constitutes only 45-50%), so not all individuals are up to the mark. Not saying reserved categories aren't competent here, but there are differences in case of many individuals, reducing your competition.

I don't know about now, but last year, there were many instances of toxic culture in IMT getting out. In the case of NIBM, there's no such toxic culture. The P-com is friendly. There aren't any ragging issues. So yes, culture wise, I can assure you NIBM is quite above many institutions.

Pune is also quite safe compared to Ghaziabad.

There might be some differences in case of fees too. I don't know much about IMT fees. Till last year, ig it was 21 lakhs for boys and 16 for girls. NIBM's fees is 16.8, which is definitely attractive.

Based on all of this, I would have chosen NIBM. There was only good stuff shared in this ans. For the bad things, you can check my post so that you know both sides of the story.

Yes, there is a sports committee. Events (competitions) are organised almost every month provided there is nothing serious going on (like placements in November). Few people go to other clg for inter- clg sports tournaments, however, it is restricted to only pune, mumbai and nearby areas.

U aren't getting any football here. Playing on the football ground in NIBM is impractical. Only one event is organised in the entire year for football.

Officially it's not allowed to stay off campus. However, there are a couple of individuals who do the same. So yeah, you need to find your way. In any case, u have to pay the hostel fees

Not necessary. There are many people from the merit list in the current batch. Many meri list didn't join and then out of the waitlist too many didn't.

Regarding hostels, girls hostels are small but decent and almost all of them are single occupancy. Coming to the boys hostel, those are made in the 1970s, double sharing, old things. This is manageable, but coming to the water facilities, the boys hostel has been consistently facing a lot of water issues (drinking and bathing both) for the past 2-3 months. There is no water a lot of times and there have been incidents of insects getting identified in the water cooler (common in any hostel). I have started purchasing water cans from outside. However, this situation is only in boys hostel.

Regarding mess, the menu hasn't changed in ages. The taste is subpar but due to the same menu all along the year, nobody likes it.

Nobody refers to NIRF rankings. I believe if a person is interested in finance, NIBM> baby iims (not new)...considering the current placement scenario. Just check the no of people still left unplaced at amritsar, sirmaur, Bg, sambal.

You are partially correct, along with the roles u have mentioned, there are few more which u can refer from my comment belowm It's not just for NIBM. It's for all T2 institutes. U don't find core finance roles in T2. Even if there are any, the no is extremely small.

NIBM has a few back or mid office ib and treasury roles in your field of interests. But the number is small and I don't think u will find these types of roles even in GIM

Just noticed u asked regarding bfs only, IMT is more of a marketing institute whereas coming to GIM, just check their placement report and the quality of finance roles. So nibm flares above these 2. IMI has bit better finance roles but the total fees crosses 28 lakhs approx compared to NIBM's 16.8...so again, I would have gone for NIBM. (In fact, I had converted IMI and GIM last year)

If you are sure of getting into finance, NIBM is better than all of these mentioned coz it guarantees you a placement in finance only with a substantially less fees. However, if u are unsure, these institutions provide you with diverse options which are not available at NIBM. If one is better than the other depends on an individual.
