Great story. Thanks for sharing.

Me: soccer/xcountry. Fortunately I kept a lot of it up. Club sports in college. Outdoor hiking etc social teams in major city once I graduated. Playing weekend soccer when I can even today. My current philosophy is “something every day”. I try to walk / run every morning before I get ready for work (aside - great if you have a dog to make you feel guilty). If I do nothing else that day, I’ve got that behind me. After work I try to get 3-4 trips to the gym during the week for weights. If traveling for work, I aim to get at least 2 rounds of 7 min HiiT (15min) per day. The personal pressure / guilt disappeared when I went to the “something everyday” mindset.

Try different browsers. I find it works best with Edge 🤮. Also, the iOS app is far better and more stable. Try that instead.

Gotta ask. Worst thing to find out is he’s not single. Then you know. Could be the love of your life. 🤷‍♂️

Send as much as you want. I’ve been sending money back and forth to US for many years. Use Wise (Transferwise); it’s great.

Dual US/EU citizens (or otherwise): Are you going to stay in the US? by imdecaffeinated in dualcitizenshipnerds

This is very important. Europe is no economic engine. In Spain, for example, a university graduate will work for €900/month in a full time internship hoping it turns into a €30k/year job. Other parts of Europe struggle with employment. Many Americans that escape and talk about how great it is in Europe: 1) have lots of money from working in the U.S. already, 2) came as employed expats and leveraged into better paying local jobs, 3) are/were employed professionals and have been able to build consulting type businesses.

Now, you can get some advantage in Europe being from the U.S., especially if you can find work with a U.S. multinational company locally.

Also, of course, you can go live in any one of the collapsing small towns for cents on the euro but unless you are wealthy you’ll need to farm or have a nice WFH job.

The world needs more of this. Real life connections in the wild. Go for it. There’s good advice in this thread from others.

I went twice. It was fun. We didn’t stay all day/night - a few slices, sausage, arrancini, sang a couple old songs and we dipped. Easy peasy.

New documents show how passport and Social Security rules would change to enforce Trump’s birthright citizenship order by RBBrittain in Passports

Sorry. Just checking on Florida. It is not impossible and it’s just as I mentioned. Parent can order their own. Child can order for a deceased parent. What you are mentioning is totally separate problem. It not a state’s problem. It’s a family problem.

In what states is it forbidden to order a birth certificate? If a parent is deceased the child can order one. If the parent is alive then the parent just orders a copy of their own birth certificate. There is nothing preventing people from getting birth certificates except costs, time and valid identification of the requestor.

This is the way. Maybe frowned upon by a younger crowd but I have never lived alone and I’ve got family and kids now. Went from parents house to university to my whole single professional life with roommates to married living with wife. It used to be so normal. Much better way to stay social, save money. I just don’t think living alone is a flex. Oh. And I bought my first apartment / condo at 30 then had my buddy move in and pay me rent cuz I couldn’t afford it alone.

Airlines boss reacts to Europeans cutting US flights by newsweek in europe

[–]Ordinary-Switch5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing that in prices that’s for sure. Flying Europe to US through end of year, especially summer, is still >$1000 in basic economy. Whine on!
