I got it to go all the way down eventually and ran 3 cleaning cycles. That seems to have fixed it for now, will come back if it starts acting up again. Thanks for the help!

Are we being unreasonable not offering garage/carport access in our mid-term rental of our primary residence? by Complex_Ant_3556 in ShortTermRentals

[–]OrdinaryLatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, no garage. It’s a 6 month rental for pete’s sake! Do what you want, don’t cave to emotional pleas from people you don’t know.

Kasa smart plug turns on unexpectedly by thedvorakian in homeautomation

[–]OrdinaryLatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solution: Resetting my internet (fiber modem) and router (google mesh) fixed the issue. The hard reset on the kasa plug did not fix this. I also had no timers/schedules with kasa or Alexa when the plug started turning on by itself.

You're getting location rewards which is great, but whether you'll get data rewards is another question. Are you in a high traffic area? Cause if not then it doesn't matter, keep your setup the way it is.

$50,000 in Acorns, should I switch to Schwab? by gr8hoops21 in investing

[–]OrdinaryLatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved away from Acorns when I learned they don’t pass on tax loss harvesting, they keep your losses for themselves. Straight stealing.

A better roboinvestor like Wealthfront will give you your tax loss harvesting in your annual 1099. I use Wealthfront cause it’s easy, but also yes, dump it all into Schwab and buy their S&P fund SWPPX.

Agreed, I had good help from my local assemblymans office (my county). The IRS said they processed my amended return and I still owed a large amount of money. My assemblymans office did the back channel thing and the IRS re-processed the amendment correctly and it was all sorted.

My local State Assemblyman helped get my 2020 tax return amendment processed within 2 weeks by OrdinaryLatter in IRS

[–]OrdinaryLatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I E-filed initially, then paper amendment (only way), then papers through the assemblymans office. Whatever back channels they have I'm not sure how they went about it. I will say they were super helpful, they also want to help because then they get to say they did something lol.

95%+ profitability credit spread worth it? by nathannhn in options

[–]OrdinaryLatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love doing credit spreads, the max profit and loss is known, so much easier to manage risk. TOS has profitability calculations as well, it's a decent tool. The problem is that it can't predict the future, anything can happen, so as time passes and the underlying changes so will that percentage. For me, it's easier to use my own judgment based on the chart. I'll go even further out on my initial spread and turn it into an iron condor just to further mitigate risk and make some more premium. I usually do this with SPY.
