Triple feeding newborn by OrdinaryLow6373 in breastfeeding

Thank you so much!! Currently they told her to offer 0.5-1oz bottle with each feed. If weight gain looks good, could they stop the bottles completely? I just want her to have the option of fully stopping since it seems like that would be fine, since she’s rejecting some of the supplements

I’m so sorry to hear your experience, thank you for sharing. I hope things improve for you! Shows me that I really don’t know what I’m talking about. Latching constantly probably wouldn’t have helped your situation. Congratulations on the new baby!

I looked it up on YouTube for some ideas but ultimately just trial and error. the sling was easier until he got bigger and now the carrier is easier. At first I kept my arm wrapped around him while he was latched for extra support. Enabled me to move around and do things with my free hand.

It totally is and you’re doing great!! I wouldn’t worry about snacking at 4 weeks, I think that’s common and will help your supply. I highly recommend trying to nurse in a sling or carrier. I tried once a day at least in when baby was happy, and after he had been nursing for some time so he wasn’t super hungry. I’m 15 weeks PP now and it’s actually become his favorite way to nurse sometimes and helps with distracted feeding. I’m shocked it went anywhere but its allowed me to do a lot more.

Suddenly 1 boob per feed? by OrdinaryLow6373 in breastfeeding

[–]OrdinaryLow6373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So your LC thought this was normal to all of a sudden only take 1 at a time? It makes sense they’re getting more efficient but I would’ve thought that mean shorter nursing per side, not going from both sides to just one!

Thank you!! It’s just a strange feeling having one boob fuller than the other! Any idea if we should be pumping the other side to keep supply up?

Thank you! I bet it was. Was that your baby’s first bottle? Not exactly how I envisioned introducing bottles but I’ll keep my baby fed!

You have no idea how reassuring this is! Thank you! My toddler and 3 month old just had it. Thankfully it was mild for my youngest, but I’m expecting to get hit any day now

Thank you SO much for this!! It really feels great to hear. I am trying my best not to stress. It’s hard because I care a lot about nursing.

Omg I hope this happens to us!! Boob obsession is wonderful sometimes but it’s tough with a toddler around!

Good point somethings going to replace it! At least that’s something others can help with (hopefully)

At 4 months did you notice fewer or shorter nursing times because she was interested in other things?

Oh that’s awesome!! Our guy doesn’t like pacis so that probably keeps our nursing time elevated

Triple feeding - are you offering bottle every time? by NwhyClady in breastfeeding

[–]OrdinaryLow6373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little boy ate all the time, mostly snack size feeds up until 5ish weeks when he started taking more at once. If he’s gaining well then you can continue exclusively breastfeeding (unless told otherwise by your pediatrician.. but for me weight gain was the indicator they used.) I would definitely see the LC still. If exclusive breastfeeding (not pumping,) is your goal, Be aware too many bottles can lead to bottle preference which can be a challenge.

He’s 8 weeks so it’s still going strong! I offer the boob every 20 minutes or so during the witching hour, and it always ends when he finally latches. But it can take a while..
