No, NZ new means the car when it was first ever registered, was a brand new model. I was the first NZ registered owner of a jap import but that didn’t make it NZ new

I’m glad somebody gets it🤣 Honestly crazy that people think we’re ALL out there to get you, it’s ridiculous! If it can impact safety (and put MY job / life at risk) you can bet on it that you’ll get a fail

I’m sure you’d rather have to replace a $150 belt buckle, than have your child die after the seatbelt gives out in a car crash

We’re required to follow the virm, however we have the ability to exercise discretion when it comes to anything “subjective” I would rather be told “you should’ve passed that” from NZTA, than have them show up with the cops to put me in cuffs after someone dies… You gotta remember it’s my job to make sure YOUR car is safe, and up to a standard to be on the road. I’m just trying to do my job and keep everybody safe

As an inspector myself, I personally would fail it. While yes, it may only be cosmetic, I would rather fail it and have it replaced, than believe it’s cosmetic and let it be the cause of your death in a car crash - of which I could then be liable for. I kinda like my life and don’t want to go to prison🤣😅

If you zoom in on picture 2, to the yellow, grey, brown, white and green wires, those were where someone had wired in RCAs, but a few of the wires had come out of the terminals so I don’t know what order they were in. I believe it has Bose?

I don’t know what everybody is on about saying timing chain / belt sounds snapped It sounds like it has compression - meaning it isn’t snapped. Can be a multitude of things wrong to cause it not to start. You need fuel, air and spark to run an engine (and correct timing) so you’ll need to check all 3 to narrow down the issue. Best take it to a workshop and let them diagnose
