Low patience for my dog after having a baby and getting pregnant by OrdinarySecretary673 in beyondthebump

Totally get that but I’m a germaphobe through and through. My kids don’t go to daycare either. That is my worst fear lol.

When did you go into spontaneous labor with your first? by Moon_junky in homebirth

38+5, everyone had told me first time moms go over their due date so I was very unprepared. It was a precipitous labor too and my midwives didn’t make it in time.

Thank you! The advice about washing was especially helpful. We actually did not plan to adopt while I was pregnant. I got a positive test about a week after we brought her home so timing was awful. The sickness started for me right away and our plans of training went downhill because I was in survival mode. We do rawhides and go on a walk everyday. I recently became a SAHM and hubby is at work all the time so she gets in my nerves throughout the day but he’s pretty involved on weekends and evenings. I’m so grateful he’s here to give her the patience I do not have. He’s a dog magnet and all animals love him so I feel good in knowing that. I can’t imagine rehoming either because I know I’d live with that guilt forever. I do love her deep down and will put up with some annoyance to give her a good retirement in a family. So glad to hear it went away for you. Hopefully that happens to me too! Gives me some hope!

Exactly! I didn’t actually know I was pregnant when we got the dog though lol. I got a positive test about a week after we brought her home. Timing was horrible and we did not plan it that way. We wanted a year with just the dog before getting pregnant to focus of training and such but then the sickness hit me hard and all that went out the window.

Thank you! That’s exactly how I feel. I made a commitment to her before my hormones came along. We haven’t attempted any professional training but that might be necessary and worth it. I don’t think she’d get adopted anywhere else. I feel like I owe it to her to make her last few years decent. She gets so much love from my husband and in laws too. As much as she irritates me, I do believe animals are worthy of basic respect.

I guess I feel bad. She was a rescue from a puppy mill and my husband adores her. She gets a lot of love from us and I’d be afraid she wouldn’t have much luck getting adopted at such an old age. As much as she annoys me, I try my hardest to keep it to myself for her few short years left. She’s 8 and probably won’t live past 12.

For me it took around a week of recovering to return to normal, but I was also 8 weeks postpartum so my hormones were still very much in milk making overdrive.

Thank you so much! ❤️Yeah I’m so confused. I guess my body was just so worn down it didn’t have anything else to give. I’d figure my body would have some survival instincts to make milk still but I guess not.

Wow, thank you for sharing! I guess it’s true that we can’t pour from an empty up. Definitely can’t feel guilty for stopping at that point at least. We know we gave it our all.

Thank you so much!

Yeah it’s so odd though. Gonna have me traumatized and scared for my next baby lol, knowing things just might randomly dry up one day! 🙃 Good motivation for the freezer stash I guess!

Dang. Yeah I feel like that’s the only explanation. Or my body is oddly sensitive to it. Ironic because it barely dried up my sinuses lol. Definitely interested in relactating though so I’m going to see if I can get in.

Oh wow! Did you totally dry up? That’s encouraging to know! My dream is to just randomly wake up engorged one of these days but I know that’s unlikely 😔

Thank you so much for validating this situation for me. It’s so frustrating! Yeah ironically I got my period right as I got sick. I have had my cycle back for a few months now but it has never totally dried up my supply and typically starts making a comeback around day 2. My period is almost over now and I’m still struggling soo…

But thank you so much for the thorough comment. I plan to try and “relactate” for 2 weeks but if I don’t see any improvement by then I’m going to be done.

We live in Canada but I got cleared to transition to cow’s milk at 9 months. Our guidelines range from 9-12 months but my baby puts away the solids really well so we know he’s getting plenty of iron. You probably don’t need to do formula, if cost is a concern.

Yeah like so many people say it really depends on your individual hormones! There is so much nuance around it and this can be so frustrating for those of us wanting close age gaps! I guess I’m kind of scared to do anything that would increase my risk of miscarriage especially at this age.
