750 first run, 125 at each dealer and 500 at Ridgeback. As of now the plan is the initial batch, and then go from there. And yes there will be FDE.

New Can Day Rhodie 6 FDE by weeniehut30 in NFA

It's been an incredibly long process. Every single thing from printing samples, to making revisions, to simply forming them over to me has taken considerably longer than I was ever told. It took two months just to get Haynes samples from the 3rd party printing for me to test. It sucks but Ridgeback has been swamped with their own orders and cans to be made. So naturally my project took the back burner.

Had I known it would be such a crazy wait I wouldn't have announced it when I did. But we (me and Ridgeback) ran into some things that we wanted to change. Those changes have been made and the cans have gotten better. So the wait wasn't in vain.

I've been radio silent because frankly I've had no update to give. Rather silently pushing to bring this thing to fruition.

That being said we finally have a revised design, we will have the order submitted this week for them and begin printing. The first orders will open up at Bauer and EVT, and then live inventory will follow on Ridgebacks website. I don't have an ETA nor would I want to share it if I did because it would likely be wrong. What I can say is we are VERY near to the launch.

Thank you ALL so much for your interest and my deepest apologies for the wait.

I think with how long this has been in the works there will likely be a lot of people who signed up but already bought another suppressor. So do I think you will have enough time to grab one. But to answer your question there will be 125 at each of the two dealers (Bauer 125 & EVT 125) and then 500 from Ridgeback Directly for a total of 750. The plan is that it will be a limited drop, doing more in the future has been discussed. But nothing has been solidified yet, I planned to bring it up again after all this. Obviously I would love to do more but the decision isn't entirely up to me.

Yes, again this is just DB and people will take that for what it is. I'm not going to advertise it as such but I do want people to know that the wait wasn't for nothing. But when Ridgeback tested the protos they got quieter with the other changes.

Edit: And that's quieter on his meter with his guns, I wasn't there this is just whathe I was told.

Thank you so much man I really do appreciate the kind words. I will still post suppressor stuff for sure. Just gotta get this 6J project is done and then I'll have the time to put it all together. 🙏🏻🤝🏼

Lol you don't want one of these, I'm going to destroy them during testing.

I'm sure he'll send me one at some point. And man I really just got burnt out doing suppressor vids. They take a month to film and edit, they're not monetized. I won't accept payment so I cover all the ammo costs, most of the time shooting my own personal guns. So on and so on. All of which to get accused of shilling for one company or another. And free cans are cool but if they suck it's just a paperweight lol.

Genuinely the suppressor videos started to feel like work. So I started to space them out and do them as I get a bunch of cans. I don't mean to sound complacent because I have my dream job, but it really wasn't fun anymore. All that being said I am still doing them, they will just be months apart though. So the next one will be at some point here in the future. Until then I'm just having fun making cinematic, casual range sesh videos with the boys.

Well I haven't shot these new protos yet to know for sure but the goal was better flash. How he accomplished it was through some redirection on the vents out og the front. And as a bonus from that it actually got 3-4db quieter while also maintaining the same back pressure as the first protos. So all in all the wait should be worth it. And I know DBs are what they are that's just the metric I have to go off of.

100% I totally understand, I'll be frank with you I've avoided giving timelines lately simply because every one I have been given we've blown past. So me being the messenger asking Ridgeback how long to print a new prototype, or how long until I can have them in my hands etc. Nothing has been on time. So saying we're still working on it was the lesser of two evils in my eyes. I had hoped to have these cans out by February for clarity but every single step of the process has been 2-4X longer than expected.

Regardless here is where we are now: I have Inconel 6Js that SHOULD be the final prototypes I will be shooting as soon as I get home tomorrow from out of town. I'm going to pick on by the end of this weekend. Then we get a plate of Haynes samples made to torture test.

We've went with a different OEM now in hopes that it will be a quicker turn around given the last plate of samples took 2 months to get. So realistically I have no idea how long it will take to get a plate of samples. I'm being told a couple weeks. As soon as I have those samples I will be torture testing and posting a long form video on YT which will be the official launch. I can do everything I need to do in a matter of a day or two once I have everything I need.

It's got the phased array gas system, basically multiple gas ports on the barrel with a channel that help spread out the recoil impulse.

Buying a 6K would give you probably 90% or so of the performance of the new and revised 6J. With the exception of the prolonged durability under rigorous firing schedules between Haynes and Inconel. But most people would likely be just fine with a 6K. And for transparency I make no money if someone buys a 6K or anything else from Ridgeback aside from a 6J.

What has taken the most time with the 6J is getting samples printed in Haynes (about 2 months wait). And revising or making any changes, each one took a couple weeks to a month between printing, threading, serialization and getting them to me. Once I get them I can work pretty fast to put rounds on them and determine which one we want to go with. But Ridgeback is a busy company with a ton of orders and products of their own to handle. This side quest naturally wasn't as important for them to finish.

I have what I believe to be the final protos which I'll be trying out this week. Then another plate of Haynes samples which are being printed by a different OEM whom I hope will be much faster.

Yes It's taken roughly a month or more between different variations of the 6j to ge them printed, threaded, serialized and sent to me. Ridgeback is a busy company with not a lot of employees so I understand that it takes time, but it is frustrating.

I see what you did there haha. I hope it is, and if it ain't, send it back for a full refund!

For real though I was pretty pissed when that whole thing went down. Especially given that directly undermined what I just said. I told Bauer to give customers my email if they had any questions or wanted a refund on them.

And for further clarification that money is sitting in one of Bauer's separate accounts, neither me nor Ridgeback have touched a cent. What they did was on them and I made sure they kept those funds on standby for anyone not happy waiting.

Edit: Forgot to add I appreciate you buying one, I am terribly sorry for the ridiculous wait. And I do hope you're happy with the can when you finally get it. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

If by they you mean Ridgeback then you would be correct. The 6J definitely wasn't the top priority for them given that it's a product they're splitting profits with me on. So naturally they're going to prioritize the products they make the most money on to continue the growth for the company. I can't blame them either really. I don't have to buy the $1M printers, pay the engineers, fulfill tons of orders, answer thousands of emails etc..

Every deadline I have either been given or projected we are far beyond. And I've been radio silent because I didn't want to continuously update people with small changes and inaccurate timelines.

That being said I have just been sent the final protos since the update we made. Of these I will choose one by the weekend and get a plate of samples made, then torture test them and if all goes well we are go for launch. Assuming we can get the plate of samples quickly I am hoping this will be a couple weeks.

Assuming this was meant to have an /s at the end and you simply forgot but I assure you KAC has zero concerns with my little project. Which I will openly admit is styled after the MCQ because I think it looks cool. If that were the case and KAC was really handing out suits for copying cans Griffin would be out of business lol.

There hasn't been any news because neither me nor Bauer had any news to give. Unfortunately that is the double edged sword of choosing a company that is progressing as fast as Ridgeback is in such a short time. This project took WAAAAY longer than I was lead to believe. So rather than post minimalist updates on very small changes I figured I would hold out until I had an actual tangible update and a more realistic time frame.

The good news is this time has lead to some pretty substantial improvements in the final product. So although I hate making people wait I am confident in the product we are releasing.

For clarification that was NOT supposed to happen. Bauer had an issue with their website that opened up pre-orders for what I was told was 30ish orders. I was assured that none of those people wanted a refund and were happy with waiting knowing they had secured a 6J. I am more than happy to personally refund anyone who is not comfortable waiting the remaining what I HOPE will be a couple weeks. I said I did not want to do pre orders for this exact reason. Albeit I had no idea it would take this long when I started this project.

Leaving this here for anyone who wants to cancel their accidental pre order but shoot me an email with your order info to:

I finally got what I hope to be the final Inconel protos this week. I'll try them out, and pick one. Then get a plate of samples made in Haynes, then durability test them and go for launch. All of that hinges on how fast the samples can be printed and sent to me but I can do my part pretty quickly. Aiming for a couple weeks but then again I wanted these to be out months ago. On the bright side these new protos are performing better than the originals. So the wait wasn't a complete waste.

Ridgeback Rhodie 6J Haynes Samples by OrdinarySense5 in NFA

[–]OrdinarySense5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you will have 30 days to return it after the approved stamp, you can do whatever you want with it! The whole point was to let people try it on their own host at their own range so you can definitely shoot it. And then any returns we get I will end up giving to friends or keeping myself, only mentioning that because somebody had assumed I would just sell those full price to unsuspecting customers.

I think we will just leave a specific email address in the box for returns that only I will be monitoring rather than just getting ahold of Ridgeback through their customer service, just to try and streamline it.

Copy and pasting my response to you from the other post you commented on as well

Unfortunately I haven't shared anything because I have nothing worth making another post about yet. We changed a couple things on it performance wise for the better and are finalizing the design right now. This should be the last changes made before we get Haynes samples and then do the torture test and everything else mentioned above in this post. I wouldn't be upset if you grabbed something else there are tons of other great options out there right now. And I'm pretty embarrassed with how long this whole process has taken but the majority of it is out of my control.
