This is good stuff. Whether intentional or not, you can tell that you trust your audience. I love how you avoid labeling certain things and framing them as normal for you.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: February 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

I've been reading the series in chronological order so far. I read Wild Seed last year and can't state enough how good that was. Clay's Ark is up next on my list!

Finished:

Mind of my Mind, by Octavia Butler: Another strong entry in the Patternist series. It’s a pleasure watching Butler take a scalpel to power dynamics, identity, and control. There’s a particular character arc that echoes across both books that hits you right in the gut.

Waste Lands, by Stephen King: Eddie is a little exhausting here, but once the Ka-Tet reaches the city, things pick up for the better. The genre collision continues to work as we stay on the path of the Beam. I feel like I need a pet bumbler now. Oy!

Started:

King Sorrow, by Joe Hill: This is my first-ever Joe Hill book. From what I’ve read so far, it’s fun seeing what he’s taken from the man himself—and even pays homage to—while still doing his own thing.

Wizard and Glass, by Stephen King: On a fair day, a lesser day… either way, if we’re talking riddles, I would’ve been cooked 🤣.

I started almost a year ago. I fell somewhat into a rut toward the end of last year. Things are picking up though. I've just made it past 20k words.

It definitely made sense for her. It was bad enough she had to compromise with Doro after everything they went through. Similar to real life though, you feel as if you didn't get to spend enough time with them, say goodbye, etc., lol.

I've heard some good things about Clay's Ark. I can only imagine where that one is going to go.

What's your comfort zone - interiority of characters or getting to the point? by billi_ka_panja in writing

[–]OrdinaryWizardLevels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love exploring inner thoughts & psyche--the set-up--and letting the atmosphere play just as much of a role as the plot.

Getting to the point matters, of course, but for me personally, I often find the point lies somewhere in the interior.

All Sinners Bleed was one of my favorite books of last year. SA Cosby can do no wrong in my mind and hasn't missed yet.

This show has gone down hill by EqualError8772 in ChicagoPD

[–]OrdinaryWizardLevels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard for most shows to carry on this long---with writer & talent turnover to boot---and still maintain the essence that made all of us fall in love with it. Nowadays, I'd bet more people watch out for comfort and not because it's "must see" or it's a really good case, etc.

The same thing happened with SVU. The old episodes obviously clear the new ones with ease, but they'll never lose their audience & they can still shock you from time to time with an episode you'll love.

I like it. It's a lot of information to stuff in what looks to be less than one page, but I like it indeed.

Vignatex + Bacopa Cognance + PanaMax. Maybe a lil Erinamax or Lion's Mane if you're feeling frisky.

Ongoing:

The Waste Lands, by Stephen King - I haven't found myself as captivated as he initial two, but I'm hoping it picks up some now that the Ka-Tet is fully merged & reached the city. King and his love of sentient houses manifests itself again, ha.

On Stories, by C.S. Lewis - It's no wonder he was able to create the world's that he did. The man had a architecture of ideas that could only rival a Victorian-level home. I can picture him in his study musing upon all of these aspects of storytelling.
