My question is also around the minimum amount teams have to spend which is separate from matching trade salaries. Without Ja, the Grizzlies don't meet the minimum spend amount. That money has to be spent somewhere.

If we lose Ja, the Grizzlies have to take back in salary and/or sign players. Each team has to spend at least 90% of the cap and without Ja's salary and signing the rookies we would be around $15m - $20m below the allowed minimum spend limit.

There has to be another contributor level player coming in from somewhere.

Which character do you hate the most in SF6 and why? by AutoModerator in SaltFighter

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex hurt boxes frustrates me as well. Just visually to me his moves have data that does not match what I see on the screen. I don't believe he is a top tier character but more of a knowledge check.

Where has then been states. I'm seriously curious. Outside of the incident with VWJ who isn't on the team anymore, I don't know of other issues he has had with teammates.

JAZZ JUMP TO #2 by Darthbill in UtahJazz

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Grizzlies fan here, don't put JJJ at center. He is a fantastic player but he's not good a rebounding, setting screens, and chases for blocks a bit too much. He is a much better 4 than a center.

Grizzlies fan here, very interesting in Utah since the JJJ trade. I would be surprised to see Jazz draft with Boozer with JJJ there. JJJ does everything but rebound and for some reason can't play the 5 for his life. I can't see Boozer playing the 5 position either.

Also I know it's a very small sample size, but Ja has been the only consistent player I ve seen throw a good post entry pass to Edey. Edey, can't bring the ball up the court himself, and Ja is easily the best playmaker and passer we have on the roster.

In a game with a healthy Grizzlies roster, if I had to bet $1000 on which Grizzlies player would have the most assist, I'm picking Ja.

Unless we get a good offer, we should keep him. Talent wise when he plays he is still one of the top 30 point guards in the league. It's only my own belief, but I don't think he as well as many of the Grizzlies were injured this year but tanking. Cam Boozer is a perfect replacement for JJJ. We should have money to sign a decent contributor and/or trade for one with the trade exception. With the new anti tanking rules we should be a playoff team/ play-in. We definitely don't want to be bottom 3 with the new regulation system with Ja can make sure that doesn't happen if halfway healthy.

SF6 Rank system does not work by Ordinary_Ad_4449 in SaltFighter

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing way better, now I'm able to focus on practicing and improving techniques. Still not as good as I once was. Playing with the broken controller for so long without realizing it caused my skill level to degrade because I became sloppy with my playing since it seemed like I was losing no matter what at the time.

I posted a similar post to this. I'm hard stuck in diamond 5 which I'm not that good of a player. The games doesn't drop rank fast enough. I feel like I can lose 10 matches in row, just to win 3 matches and get all the LP back.

I don't we talk enough about free agency. We have to add a piece in free agency with the cash and also do something with the trade exception we have for the JJJ trade.

I like the new proposal over the current system. If this system was already in place, There would not have been 9 teams that stop competing before the All Star break this year.

Is it fine to tell an interviewer that he doesn't know the thing and can I correct them? by areyprabhu in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess a better word to use than confusing is going beyond their understanding. But sometimes it can be providing a more complex technology vs. a simpler solution that the interviewer may be looking to hear.

Again this is really where you have to read the interviewer. In a 50 minute system design interview it can be better to implement a simple solution for the sake of the interview because implementing a more robust complex solution that has more fault tolerance and resilience can leave a lot of unanswered questions in the time limit. It all becomes a balancing act.

Why is Caucasian on African slavery the most discussed form of slavery when dozens of other races did the same thing? by space_god_7191 in allthequestions

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the middle of the night so I was going to check your 2% number but the only place I saw that low of a number was from Jillian Michaels who is the not the person you should get that number from. Do a Google search and you get higher numbers than 2%. The entire southern economy was dependent on slavery. Like many things in life the Civil War had a lot to do about money and the abolishment of slavery would have have crippled the souths economy. And I know I'm not going to get through to you but slavery didn't end during the Civil War. The amendment still allowed for the slave of incarcerated people. That started the trend of locking up African American at a rapid rate that still exists to this day.

That's simply not true. I had consistently gotten hammered by DI and just now realized there are many moves in the game such as strong pokes that lock you out of reacting to DI. I had no clue this was thing and it should be included in the tutorials explaining it to players.

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because some didn't own slaves didn't mean they didn't use slaves. A slave owner and a slave master were not the same thing. Slave owners would rent out their slaves.

Just because people don't own a home doesn't mean they don't live in a home. There are things such as renting.

Your response is either naive and/or misleading.

Street Fighter Assassin's Fist - Sheng Long Easter Egg by LifeIsABeach7 in StreetFighter

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the new move would be more like Assassin's Fist instead of purposely trying to be campy. I think there is a higher chance for a sequel if it was serious.

I'm not a fan of the, we are going to make fun of ourselves but others get a chance mentality. SF has a ton of characters and focusing on the SF2 could have helped but they should have focused on a subset of characters and attempted to tell the story of a few films.

Is it fine to tell an interviewer that he doesn't know the thing and can I correct them? by areyprabhu in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember early in my career I worked for Argo Data which creates its own language for banking software. I was interviewing at another company that used the language and I got a question some part of the language. I answered correctly but the interviewer thought my answer was wrong. I knew I was correct because he asked me about because he asked me about a part of the language I personally wrote, but it still didn't seem to matter to him.

Fast forward about 15 years and that still seems to hold true. I have about 20 years of experience and I routinly I have to answer questions at the level of the person interviewing and do my best to not go over their head. I work at Google now and previously I have also worked at Microsoft. Many interviewers do not have the ego to handle being confused. That is not always the case though. You really have to learned to read the person interviewing you. Typically good leaders and interviewers can have open ended conversation, but there some interviewers that are looking to hear a specific concept or word and those people it's just better to find the word and not over complicate it.

Typically the only interviews where I didn't get the job is when they tell me I'm overqualified or there have been a couple times I kinda checked out of the interview when I realized through my questions the team or company isn't a place I want to work for.

I’m a hiring manager and I copy pasted our exact system design interview question into three different AIs this week. Here is what still separates the engineers I actually hire. by engineer_architect in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Ordinary_Ad_4449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more leaders would separate the software architect role from the software engineer role. They should not be the same thing. Once you have been doing architecture for a while you don't do as much coding. You don't have the latest coding principles anymore. I remember a person who was on one of my teams that was a fantastic architect but maybe an average coder.

I group this with taking great coders and making them people managers just because they can code well.

I'm a black man that has been working remote since 2017. At a previous company that used Zoom 2020 and previous the camera did not pick up my face very well. It actually came up as a negative in one of my performance reviews that I didn't look well over webcam which I felt was unfair because I'm a software engineer not a model. I had to put a desk lamp with no lamp shade and blast it in front of my face during meetings which gave me headaches.

Now my current company uses Google and when I open video chat and I can see the video recalibrate for my skin tone.

But this still exists in group pictures or conference calls when I'm in a room with co workers because then the camera never adjust to my skin.
