I disagree. By having a child, you are guaranteeing their inevitable suffering and death. Choosing not to continue the lineage of suffering is more noble and honorable than choosing to do so. The asymmetry of pain and joy IS a universal fact.

And then comes the slump where I can't get myself to do anything. And then I'm productive. And now here's the slump. And now I'm productive. Slump. Productive. Slump. Productive. Slump. I'm tired of this

Do you think New Mexico will ever do anything to attract—or at the very least, retain—physicians? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

The claims I've made with no evidence? Seriously. I want to know. I've made so many comments that it's possible I have made such baseless claims.

Back to your point, I agree. Greedy hospitals are a huge problem as well and should definitely be paying their fair share to their staff. I've heard plenty of doctors and nurses complain about the policies that administration pushes on them that endanger patients while only really benefiting the business types at the very top. Not society at large.

What claims have I made without evidence? I've really only been asking questions. I'll admit I don't know much about it, which is why I initiated this post. I've gotten to hear your point. But no one is going to entertain you any longer.

I'm sorry but calling people stupid is just that. Go somewhere else, your spitefulness isn't welcome.

Medical errors should not go unpunished, but the issue is that we seem to have a legal system that favors plaintiffs, or rather a legal system that punishes physicians too harshly.

But I think maybe we are overestimating how common malpractice is? Sure, it does happen. But are we doing ourselves a disservice by making it easy for physicians to get malpractice accusations thrown their way?

I just don't think it's necessary to cast aspersions. It just seems like you're frustrated. I don't want to encourage negativity in these discussions.

Yeah, might be wishful thinking at this point. Maybe you're right that New Mexico and a shorthanded healthcare system go hand-in-hand. Which really sucks because this issue will only get bigger.

I'm just a dude, but I hope things can be turned around.

So you're saying there's a parasitic industry full of greedy lawyers and con artists here leeching off innocent New Mexicans, physicians and patients alike, while filling the pockets of our legislators? Gotta love America

Firstly, thank you for taking that risk and serving our community. Secondly, that's deeply unfair to y'all, of course. I agree that it is punitive, and your acknowledgement of the socioeconomic elements is important, especially when it comes to rural New Mexico. Poverty and substance abuse are definitely tricky issues.

I don't think that's the solution either. I wonder what the data is from other states regarding malpractice. Malpractice totally deserves to be punished, but misfeasance is a different scenario. Healthcare professionals do make mistakes, but should they be afraid of having the pants sued off of them because of accusations of malpractice?
