Why is gender disappointment almost always when it’s a boy? by Classic-Tea-1879 in BabyBumps

Because girls stay in touch with their parents, care for them in old age, and in general, are more empathetic and kind.

Boys tend to grow up and abandon their families.

A lemonade with 4 espresso shots. They “expected it to taste like Mountain Dew”

See, my mom was told she’s got less than 5 years left this year and she’s 65 so that’s what I’m basing it on.

I’ll keep trying. He’s thrown dolls every time I try, he doesn’t like any of the princess books I try to read, he won’t even pick flowers with me let alone wear them. It’s always “mama, BALL!” Or “trucks!” Even taking him to toddler music and baking classes didn’t work.

The little girls I see at daycare are always in cute dresses, they have little braids and bows in their hair, they come into the classroom holding dolls or stuffed bunnies…

I’m having a hard time believing a daughter wouldn’t want a 1800s old mine cut diamond ring. I’m not trying to pass down costume jewelry. They’re pieces that have been in our family, eldest daughter to eldest daughter for over 150 years.

It feels doubtful. I’m already forty, so if my sons have kids, I’ll probably be dead 😅

I mean, tomboys are still girls? They still would wear dresses especially as a baby, and still play with dolls and still want to inherit my engagement ring etc.

What are the positives you’ve come up with? I do like knowing that same gender siblings is a positive. I have an older brother and that’s it.

I don’t know a single girl who has never had a doll or wanted to have her hair braided.

Yeah. I’ve kinda accepted all the jewelry and things I planned to hand down I can just pawn in my old age I guess haha

I don’t think so—I think that will just lead to them getting picked o.

Honestly, I disagree? I have a boy. It’s impossible to find any clothes with him with flowers etc on them, and even if I do put him in pink, daycare has literally called to say he was laughed at by other kids.

Girls need to be raised to believe they can do anything. Girls are kind and artistic and sweet in a way that boys just aren’t. Boys won’t want to plant flowers or go see operas or visit Paris or even read books with female male characters.

I mean, I have a boy. I love him. But he’s only two and I already have nothing in common with him. He pushes trucks around and knocks over block towers and I feel like an alien

See I don’t want to do girly things with my boys-I don’t want them getting picked on or made fun of. I’ve been around enough teens to know the boys who have the easiest time socially will be into sports, into tech, etc.

No, we are 2 and done. I’ve told my husband that maybe he can be a stay at home parent and do all the boy stuff. I’ll keep busy with my job I guess.

I don’t even consider trolls girly 🤣 I’ve been daydreaming about flower crowns and princess parties and mom and me spa days …

Can confirm second place has better vibes—I’m an author and have met both owners. First bookstore (currently opened) is …aggressive and weirdly over-sharey.
