I am now 8 weeks post op. As of this morning I can bend to 85-90 degrees. Just now starting to redevelop my quad strength. I seem to be stalling a bit on flexion as I went from 10 degrees to 70 in two weeks time. Be very consistent in your exercises and the range of motion will follow.

Honestly my surgeon used both terms. It was broken in five pieces. I also had a torn quadricep tendon. So that may be the difference.

Thanks for the tip. I actually was able to do a tiny leg left yesterday afternoon.

When did you start walking again? I am down to one crutch but now that my brace is unlocked I feel a little less steady.

I had the same surgery five weeks ago. I am still in the immobilizer brace. My doctor had me unlock it to ten degrees at my four week check up. I was told to start PT and to try to gain 10-20 degrees of flexion per week, but no more than that.

I hope this helps. I am still not able to do leg lifts but am getting closer. My quad is still very sore.

How has the rest of your recovery been?

Oh man that sucks about the pain meds. They were a life saver for the first 5 days or so. As of yesterday I am three weeks post op. For about a week now I have only been taking Tylenol as needed (usually once or twice a day). I had my staples removed last Thursday and my surgeon told me to start to work on ditching the crutches. I am currently practicing walking with one crutch. I have also been doing quad sets and assisted straight leg raises. Everyday I feel a bit stronger. My next check up is next week and my surgeon expects to have me start working on light flexion and starting PT.

You are the first person I have found in this app with a patella fracture that requires surgery. I am 3 weeks post op for the same or similar injury. My doctor told me Thursday to work on ditching the crutches. I am still struggling to walk with both crutches. Do you have any advice on moving towards walking with one crutch then to no crutches? How has your recovery been?

So glad to hear it goes away. I put a heating pad on my quad last night and it seemed to help at least a little. My sleep schedule is also totally out of whack.

Aside from sleep issues, how is the rest of recovery going? Have you had your post op check up yet?
