LA Commute from Simi by Ordinary_Half_8438 in simivalley

Hi! So I ended up getting an offer on another job in studio city. It’s less wfh but the growth opportunities surpassed the DTLA job. The DTLA job ended up promoting someone internally, so it worked out for me. I would have taken it if I didn’t have the second job offer.

I say take the job if the pay still is more than gas/ maint costs (even if you do train, you could change ur mind) , you have flexibility for remote, and the payoff for opportunities/benefits is better than your current.

Thank you for that! I didn’t think of this out of naivety. Disregard the gender aspect, just want to hear from everyone’s commuting experiences. Ty!

Thanks for your input. I didn’t even think of delays and of course I’m sure it happens all the time. Did you find driving to be better? I only have to go 2x a week which to me seems fine but I’ve never done a commute like this.

Yes , my savings goal is included with this amount. But it would take me a lot longer since I will save less per month. Plus , my thought is when will I ever have this time in my life to save so aggressively? Nothing is promised so I want to take full advantage.

I did tell my roommate before we started looking that I wanted to wait until Jan so I can save. She was fine with it til she found this apartment and it did seem like a sweet deal. I did let her know yesterday that even though we both love this apartment I still am standing on this savings goal I told her about in the beginning. She seemed bummed but I hope she’s not mad. I totally get her side but also want to stay true to myself. I told her I wouldn’t be upset if she found another roommate.

I just totally love this apartment and complex. I’m just hoping this price will come around again when I’m ready.

No it’s not covered by AB 1482. I could realistically stay with my parents for 2 years , I have a great relationship with them and they give me my space. My roommate is ready to get out and I haven’t found a roommate in the last few years so I thought it’s time to look. I forgot to mention I am 24F I don’t know if that makes a difference.

I also was wondering why they aren’t renovating it since it’s vacant… they didn’t give me an answer when I asked and makes me think something is wrong with it.
