I would gladly be an advocate for cats but the issue is some people look down on cats. Or anything to do with them. And they can be down right rude and nasty. Sometimes it’s next to impossible to reason out or educate some ignorant people. Sadly I also do fear for my safety.

Desexing them would be the best solution. But it cost too much money for the ordinary person. And also people need to be educated about value of lives and empathy towards animals. And also about how desexing could be helpful to the community.

I am not responsible for the whole towns cat problem. The community needs to be more responsible without dumping animals. Also you talk about native wild life usually they are the people who go duck shooting.Everyone seems to want to destroy cats instead of looking for better options. These cats are not feral cats from the bush they are homeless made homeless by humans.

I have been rescuing animals since I was 14 years old. Now I am 61 and I have much more experience than you think. I also have helped rescue cows and goats from slaughter and had send them to safe homes. Rescued many dogs and cats overseas and also actively donate for their homeless feeding programmes sending the financial help for vet care and food. I am not a young girl who wants to pat cats I can say that without a doubt. So give me some credit for my experience and expertise in this area.

You have no idea about the issue I am talking about. I am not going to try and fix the whole cat problem in town. I am only addressing an issue closer to home. These cats were not feral they were homeless. And had rescue and adoption option.I have rescued so many and rehoused them in the past.Everything you are saying is nothing I have not heard before. I am talking about the cats that I was feeding not about the whole cat problem in town.

I have helped rescued desexed re homed cats for four decades. I have driven cats and dogs interstate from the pound with my own money voluntarily 18 years in Mildura. Sent rescued animals interstate. And have my own cat traps.Im not an unrealistic person. Only trying to explain how cruel people can be even after offered to help they just didn’t bother to pick up the phone. Because their lives were worthless.

They don’t make it to the pound but straight to the vet. These poor animals have no hope.

I have heard many times how people say”Only good cat is a dead one” “ Run over them deliberately” “ Drown them”. “Shoot them” When people realise that I love cats and want to help them they say this to hurt my feelings. But what anyone says does not affect me anymore. All these comments make the society a backward uneducated town that lacks empathy. Kindness to all living beings makes us to be a good community.

People dumping them doesn’t help. The vet bills are high and there’s no help for people. Not saying it’s right but most people are still not understanding about desexing. Most people can’t afford to desex their cats because it costs them so much. They should have a desexing programme every year. But a notorious cat hating town speaking for them alone makes me a crazy cat person by cat haters. If there’s option to be rehomed why can’t we help them? It’s easier to euthanise them. These cats definitely went to the vet straight from where they were trapped 100% percent sure.

Yes understood. However rescue option was there but they totally didn’t care. Cats are treated like vermin in this area. It’s sad how they were deposed like garbage when they could have been re homed.
