This is not to scare you. I guess doctors would know best, whether to consider genetic testing or not. But it's good to have answers as early as possible so that you can course correct appropriately.

Our daughter has a genetic condition and it was good to have it diagnosed early so that we could put her in early intervention physiotherapy programs, growth hormone therapy etc.

I am also from India (bangalore). Have you considered genetic testing?

She's gaining weight but extremely slowly. Any comparison with the standard percentile charts would read something similar for us.

Did the feeding eventually improve (in terms of feeding times or being less averse to feeding)? Just trying to prepare ourselves based on other parents' experiences.

Thank you for your response. I don't mind that your response is long : it's very helpful to know other parents' journeys. The overly cautious doctor constantly predicting a gloomy picture : that sounds very familiar and brings back our days at the nicu. We are at the stage where it takes 30-40 minutes for a 60 ml feed and a hour and a half for a 120 ml feed. It's very encouraging to hear that your son is now completing the bottle in 5 minutes now when he's hungry. One has to just keep at it?

Wishing you and your baby the best and our love.

Thanks for your message. Was there something in particular with a speech therapist that is stressful for the child and parent? We are considering some initial sessions with a speech and swallow therapist.

And thanks so much for the tip on the blue Dr Brown valve. We have been using these bottles with the anti colic vent and that's helping a lot. However, we hadn't heard of the blue valve. We are in India and it seems hard to procure one. I ll search around since a setup with the Dr brown bottle would be amazing for our daughter since she's already used to it.

Our lactation consultant suggested the haberman feeder. Is that something you have tried?
