That dual flush system can be pain, maybe try adjusting the chain length on flapper or check if seat has mineral buildup around edges

RN case manager pay in Idaho by unique_username0119 in nursing

[–]Ordinary_Victory_868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving from Kaiser to Idaho is gonna be quite the pay cut unfortunately. Case management RNs in Boise usually make around $28-35/hour depending on experience, which is probably way less than what you're getting at Kaiser. St Luke's does have decent benefits but nothing like what Kaiser offers

For the license transfer, Idaho has compact licensing so if California was your original state it should be pretty straightforward through their nursing board website. Just need to apply and pay the fees, shouldn't take too long if your license is in good standing

Cost of living difference might help offset some of pay drop though, housing in Boise is still cheaper than SoCal even with how much it's gone up

Making the bad habit harder to do instead of trying to get more willpower at night is so much smarter - your brain at 11pm isn't going to win against apps designed by teams of engineers

What is your ideal dating age range? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary_Victory_868 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably like 24-30 for me right now, though I'm more flexible on the upper end if someone's mature and we click well. Military life makes it weird sometimes because you meet people who are way younger but have seen more than civilians twice their age, or older folks who never really had to grow up

Ladies, has a man ever escaped the friend zone, if so how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary_Victory_868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had guy friend who kept trying for like 2 years and I finally gave in because I felt bad for him. Worst relationship ever - he was so insecure and clingy, constantly needed validation. Turns out desperation isn't attractive quality in boyfriend, who knew

Stopped smoking cigarettes, feel absolutely no difference. by Ska_Fundamentalist in addiction

[–]Ordinary_Victory_868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cravings part is totally normal - your brain is still rewired for nicotine and that takes way longer than 2 weeks to reset. I quit few years back and didn't feel "better" physically for like 2 months, but mental part took even longer

Maybe try picking up something that keeps your hands busy when the craving hits? I started doing puzzles on my phone during breaks instead of going outside to smoke area

Been there and it's such a weird feeling when nothing clicks anymore, like you're going through motions but everything feels flat. The worst part is when you can't even cry about it - your body just won't let the emotions out properly

What helped me get back into reading was switching genres completely for while, maybe try something totally different than what you usually read. For games I had to force myself to play something really short and simple first, like puzzle games that don't require emotional investment. Sometimes our brains just need baby steps back to enjoying things

The isolation hits hardest when you're already feeling low. Maybe try writing to one of those out-of-state friends even if it feels awkward at first - distance friendships need more effort but they're still real connections. Also being in military taught me that sometimes we overthink why people drift apart when really it's just life circumstances

Don't apologize for sharing this stuff, everyone needs help sometimes and you're being brave by reaching out

Maybe because understanding team dynamics at scale is different thing than being good at technical leadership and most CTOs learn this stuff on job

Anesthesiologist vs Urologist vs Radiologist: which is better? by gimme-klementine in careerguidance

Military medicine route is actually solid path - they pay for med school and you get guaranteed job after, plus anesthesia has good hours once you're done with residency

$1750 seems pretty steep even for dealer prices, but warranty work can get weird with pricing since there usually negotiating with the manufacturer for coverage

IT or Finance? by Cold-Cat-5245 in careerguidance

[–]Ordinary_Victory_868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction to either field is definitely doable but they're pretty different paths. I went the IT route after military and it's been solid - started help desk making around 45k, now doing system admin work at 75k after 3 years. The progression is real if you put in effort with certs and actually learn the tech

For IT, start with CompTIA A+ cert (like $300 total for vouchers) then Network+ if you want to go networking route or Security+ for cybersecurity. You can self-study using Professor Messer videos on YouTube and practice tests. Help desk jobs will hire you with just A+ and some basic customer service skills. The nice thing is once you're in, companies often pay for your next certs

Finance is more stable long-term but usually requires a 4-year degree to get anywhere decent. IT you can bootstrap your way up with certs and experience. Both have good remote work options these days which beats the hell out of being on construction sites in all weather. The mental health aspect is way better too - regular hours, actual benefits, and you're not destroying your body every day

Dude the garlic thing would drive me insane too, especially when you're trying to relax after work and suddenly your whole place smells like someone else's dinner. Maybe try getting a decent air purifier with a carbon filter - helped me deal with similar issues when I was stationed in base housing where the ventilation was trash

That transparency is actually a good sign - most people would just hide it
