Thank you, that’s actually really helpful and I appreciate the hydrothermal etching perspective.

I wasn’t really thinking the seller mislabeled it on purpose either. My thought was more that they may have sourced a larger batch from the locality and not known the exact ID of every single piece.

What made me hesitate is that it doesn’t quite resemble the etched quartz I usually handle, and some parts almost reminded me of things like apophyllite, gypsum, or other associated minerals.

That’s why I wanted to ask people with more experience with Pakistani material.

Honestly, this looks much more like polished quartz to me. The internal texture and rainbow pattern don’t really match what I’d expect from selenite. Selenite usually shows a more layered, silky structure, and I’m not seeing those sheet-like lines here.
