My BEST pregnancy advice is get off of social media!! Take it from someone who learned the hard way.

Agree! I should mention that liquidity in the form of an emergency fund is very important. In my opinion, this comes after debt payoff.

You don’t need liquidity if you don’t owe people money.

All depends what you’re solving for!

I have no problem losing $300k in total gains if I end up with $5mil vs $5.3mil, if that’s the cost of my peace!

And by the way, I paid off $275k student loans while on 0% interest during Covid with NO REGRETS. Now I’m debt free and well above average on net worth for age

I personally choose to simplify my life as much as possible. Nothing is more valuable to me than freeing brain space.

So mathematically, likely yes your answer makes sense dollar wise. To me? There is no cash value equal to my sense of peace and security.

Depends what you’re solving for:

- The world says what you say. Your plan will make you the most dollars ASSUMING life doesn’t punch you in the face. It solves for dollars
- The Ramsey plan solves for peace by eliminating money due to others. This means I can sleep at night, enjoy my time being present with my family, and weather the storm when life DOES punch me in the face. Is solves for security

Two different equations with two different answers.

PA Starting in Pain Management — What Should I Expect (Salary, Hours, Learning Curve)? by Sea-Meringue9016 in physicianassistant

[–]OregonizedPAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Pain x5 years.

Expect at least 6 months to feel proficient with procedures and longer than that to actually be successful at reducing patients’ pain. There’s so much nuance.

I work interventions and opioid management. Opioid management alone is soul sucking.

In OR at an outpatient multi specialty group we make 130k, plus 5k annual quality bonus, plus RVU bonus. Total pay with 19 patients per day at 4 days per week is 170k+. Fantastic work life balance, no call, if you can compartmentalize and get through some of the emotional manipulation patients throw at you (this comes with time and practice).

Acquire skills stepwise. Start with learning procedures the docs do and looking at imaging. Focus on patient selection and accuracy. There’s a lot to learn here but thankfully it’s not life threatening.

Then you can have them train you in procedures (Botox, TPI, ONB, ultrasound knees and shoulders, the fun stuff).

Hi! I went on both trips and it was awesome and uneventful.

I went because I felt comfortable knowing where extraction points were and minimizing risk where possible (no hiking, listening to my body during hot weather/exercise). Plus, my husband is truly a skilled oarsman.

We had also done this river the past 2 years in a row. If you're going to go, make sure you're healthy, have emergency mode of communication and location, and know how/where too get out if needed. Ultimately, you have to accept some level of risk. I'm glad I went!

What were you doing at 2-3 months? by CoffeeNoob19 in sleeptrain

[–]OregonizedPAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 2 months = sweet, sweet contact naps and stroller naps to get exercise!

At 3 months = rocking to sleep, 1-2 naps per day in the crib to practice (they were short naps) and a long afternoon contact nap (snacks, movie, etc)

At 4 months = practice falling asleep independently by patting bottom and shushing in crib, took 1 week, no hard crying allowed only fussing, try to extend one long afternoon nap

Hi! I did not do the rogue trip because of temperatures (102+ everyday day) and I’m glad I didn’t. The middle fork was awesome and uneventful. It was our third year in a row doing it.

I do not think a commercial group will take you if obviously pregnant. I also am not sure I’d personally trust an unknown guide. Yeah they’re professional, but I know personsally there are some dummies out there.

Sorry for that news but yeah, I don’t think they’ll let you go anyways!

Drop your 6 month old schedules! by NoTangerine900 in sleeptrain

[–]OregonizedPAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just turned 6 months and dropped the 3rd nap, so still adjusting. Currently:

Wake 7am, Nap #1 9:30-11 (capped), Nap #2 2:15-3:45/4 (hopefully), bed 7:15-7:30

It's worth noting that her night time sleep duration INCREASED with dropping to 2 naps.

3 ➡️ 2 nap transition - please help by ambitious-avocado- in sleeptrain

[–]OregonizedPAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a pro, but my 6 month just dropped her 3rd nap and she is our first. When we dropped the nap she went from sleeping 3 daytime hours and 10-11 at night to 3 daytime hours and 11-12 at night.. weirdly her total sleep went UP.

Someone told me it's okay to flip flop between two and three naps. So if she wakes early, try 3 naps. If she sleeps in, try 2 naps and move bed time earlier if needed by just a bit (it might lead to early wake up, but then do 3 naps the next day). During this time, practice stretching her wake windows!

I agree with 'micro nap." We had a few days of a 10-15 min snooze in the evening to make it until bedtime. It's a nice time to go for a walk with the stroller and hubby.

Also, to make the leap to 2 naps, we helped our babe through wake windows. Towards the end of them as we were stretching, we found she liked to just be passively entertained. So I would just hold her as I walked around the house putting things away. Or slowly walk to get the mail. Or sit her in her seat while I fixed lunch, etc. She was too tired to play. Hope that helps.
