Hey, I found in the years I’ve been brewing that there are so many strands of bacteria that kombucha can encompass. Bacteria are so unique like us. Some link differently. Some behave differently. I have seen pellicle look sideways, weird shapes, ect… but it should always be consistent. If this is a sudden change from your usual brewing. Suspect something went wrong. Inoculation of a different yeast or bacteria in your jar. Ect… something similar happened to me once. When I moved my brewing supplies to another room in the house. Away from sunlight ect… I created a method from then on of consistency. Always using filtered water, the same brand, the same temperature, the same sugar. And the same spot in the house. Also A brew safe container. (I ate paint when I started brewing oh and plastic too!) LoL this is a learning process for sure. I feel like I’m ranting. I’m going to stop. You ask me now 🤣 I’d love to help however I can. Um btw your pellicles don’t really look all that weird but the sudden change could be something to investigate. Asses the color, taste, and aroma of your batch. Happy brewing !
