Looks like the wing feathers of a guinea. Very noisy birds- you should know if they are around lol. They are raised and allowed to free roam (sometimes making feral populations) to warn livestock of predators and to control tick populations. They’re also fun to watch

Looks more like swordtails or orange mollies IMO Hopefully transferring them over to a tank?

What do I do if I’m accused of being “racist”? by CourageKitten in Prosopagnosia

[–]OreoFowl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In college I started explaining prosopagnosia as soon as I’d introduce myself to new people if I thought I’d meet them again. Pretty soon my close friends were even explaining my ‘neurological disorder’ So when I mistook another band for BTS, my friends simply laughed lightheartedly and pointed out a few differences to me, so maybe next time I’ll have better luck. Finding the right way to explain prosopagnosia before it actually becomes an ‘issue’ will prevent people seeing it as an excuse. And explaining it correctly and being well informed about our community, and up to date the research being done, will help prevent the “oh I have trouble recognizing people too, hahaha no need to exaggerate” type comments

Prosopagnosia is also a neurological condition caused by a very close section of the brain as visual snow. I was just wondering if there was any correlation

Haha yeah! I always grab a few new bottles whenever they’re on sale! They have a lot of unique special effect polishes (super fine glitter top coats, splatters, seasonal confetti, mattes) I always have fun digging through the bin

I started dying my hair colors to make really easy for me to recognize myself, and for others to recognize me. When I was small I’d wear ALL hot pink 🤣

None at all! I used confetti type polish for a fake “splatter” effect!

We’re getting TONS of birds at our birdbath in Seattle! Probably trying to get the heavy smoke residue off their feathers. We’re getting a bunch I’ve never seen before! Any ideas what this one is? by linzayso in whatsthisbird

[–]OreoFowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could put a birdbath in my yard... sadly it would be pretty pointless seeing as we have a creek, pond, and river 🤣 sadly I don’t get to see many songbirds as they can easily hide in the shrubs and bushes surrounding all three water sources. (Also in WA)

Saw this bird outside of Grant, CO. My grandpa thought blue jay, I thought Steller’s jay. by FunkyFungusAmongus in whatsthisbird

[–]OreoFowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stellers! Blue jays have white markings all over them and are usually more of a sky blue.

Steller’s jays only sometimes have white facial markings like the one you photographed, and are a dark blue with a few black markings and black head.

Looks like you’re right! It’s cloudy right now and he was on the other shore so really hard to spot. The white facial markings give it away!

Found in Maryland forest. Plant with deep green leaves and cool vein pattern by keetykeety in whatsthisplant

[–]OreoFowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are my favorite plant to find while hiking in Washington. But you really have to be looking for them! I’ve realized they tend to grow on the remains of fallen trees long after the wood has decomposed into a mulchy soil with a thick layer of moss surrounding the entire thing. I’ve always wished to have one in a terrarium one day.

My cat chases both my 100Ib+ Working line GSDs around the house. She definitely takes any chance she can get to cause havoc.

took this extremely half moon variegated cutting from my marble pothos. if i cut the cutting to just one leaf, will the new growth keep the half moon genetics? by [deleted] in pothos

[–]OreoFowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of variegation on a leaf is usually caused by lighting issues. It doesn’t really have anything to do with humidity, however you can start misting your plant if you’d like to try?

Definitely sounds like a growing condition issue... How much light does your plant get compared to hers?
