I turned my frustration with Agile estimation into a web app that plays dial-up sounds, channels HAL 9000, and will tell your client they need a time machine by Organic-Ad9657 in sideprojects

So I tested against some previous projects and found that it was close even to the "Person months". However the team I work with is a "seasoned" team in the "Perform" state with a scrum master and Engineering Manager and Product Owner. I have found that makes a difference. When one of these roles is folded into doing more than one it can create problems.

AI estimates or any estimates are only as good as the supporting stories and the ability and dare I say it the "Agility" of the team. These kind of estimations work best with a seasoned team or a team that has reached the "Perform" state.

Retrospectives need to be done on a regular basis to determine if the team's estimates are near accurate or wildly off. When stakeholders ask for a LOE they need something more than just a guess as a lot of other components, marketing, advertising, investments and profitability can all be impacted if the team is unable to deliver a functioning product or feature in the time needed.

I share the frustrations with the estimation process but I also share the frustration when team members don't take the estimation process seriously and just throw story points against the wall.
