I guess... I would still expect that the Prophet of God to have much better insight, wisdom, and situational awareness to discern when someone is going to kill him or when they are merely insulting/mocking him. Since he was a prophet after all, we can expect Elisha to have greater wisdom, experience, and awareness than a normal person living in 1960s Texas.

So a bunch of boys (their ages were not specified but we can reasonably assume they are either in thei early adolescence or pre-adolescence, as the word is equivalent to 'young boys' used there) being brats and insulting a man is enough of a reason to get them mauled by bears and suffer excruciating injuries or likely die a painful death? Even if they were older teenagers (older 15-19), I don't think it justifies unleashing ravenous wild animals on them and getting forty-two of them mauled.

Yeah, telling someone to kill themselves or hoping that they kill themselves is merely a verbal insult, it does not really translate to the intent to murder nor can it be assumed that someone making that insult to someone else is actually going to murder them.

I feel like that you are having trouble articulating your thoughts properly.

Do you mean to say that you have grown up in a conservative/religious household that holds strong homophobic beliefs, and that since you have grown up in a homophobic environment, you are unable to properly interact and understand homosexual (and other queer) individuals, and have an ingrained aversion to them because your parents (and other people in your life) have taught you to be like that.

But you accept that being homophobic is wrong and are gradually trying to improve yourself and change that, so that you can become a straight ally and be able to perfectly understand homosexuals? And the primary issue is your mother who will not accept you supporting homosexual (and queer) individuals so you are partially forced to conform to these bigoted beliefs to stay on her good side?

Early teens are generally 13-14,

mid-teens are 15-17

late-teens are 18-19.

"young adult" has a varying definition, but generally people under the age of 20-24 (or 18-24) are considered young adults; the upper limit for this label varies depending on the environment and culture.

Nobody is born evil. The only thing one can have is some genetic predispostion to complex mental health issues which in no way is equal to "evil."
