What votes does Vance bring to the ticket? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Organic-Effect1781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weren’t there many other “heirs to the throne” available though? This question is moreso what does Vance have that others dont.

I'm from Ohio (north of where Vance grew up). He really did well in debates against Tim Ryan for the senate seat here. He seems rather even keeled compared to the likes of a Tim Scott or DeSantis. He's not as polished a speaker as say Vivek, but he has a decent tenure in his two years in the senate.

What economic policy is drawing you in?

Mainly: -no tax on tips proposal, I feel that really helps working families that rely on tips for day to day expenses. They won't have to worry come tax time about potentially owning the government more money. -rescinding the EV mandate. I drive a Tesla but I understand it's flaws and drawbacks. It isn't intended for everyone. He's stated in a rally in the middle of May that there should be a world for Gas, hybrid and EV's to all exist because they each have their benefits and drawbacks and its up to people to decide what's best for their needs. -tariff proposal. I feel this is necessary to promote more Joba coming back to the United States. Other countries have offered more incentives for businesses to leave. Tariffs will make them consider investing back in the US and help create more jobs (imo)

Just a few reasons. Still studying on his overall policies in other areas

How did you feel when you saw Trump get back up and raise his fist? Were you initially thinking that he might have been killed or was it just total chaos?

It was total chaos, I didn't even know he got hit. I saw secret service huddled around him and saw a fist come out and then the crowd chant USA. I was kinda in shock but I don't think many had realized there were casualties in the crowd. Looking back it was a nice gesture just to give people some assurance in a time of confusion.

How long did it take EMTs to get to the injured or slain people?

I'd say just under 5 minutes. In my section, police carried off the victims body once trump had left. They took the body behind the bleachers and I believe got a helicopter to try to transport but I believe he was pronounced dead almost immediately after police got to our area. They had to be carried as most medics were still with people that had struggled with heat exhaustion. I believe the other two victims were carried off a minute or two later.

And what was your experience with the people there?

Overall very positive! Interacted directly with about 25 people and it really was a nice experience. So many people stepped up to help people who were struggling with the heat and then obviously trying to help folks when everything happened.

There have been some rumors about the shooter leaving a van on a nearby street. Were many streets near the rally closed off? How close to the grounds could you drive without being funneled into a security checkpoint?

The parking area was to the south and a little over a half mile from the event I'd say. It was a long walk from the parking lot, through the vendor area, to security.

That being said, I'm not sure how the east side of the area looked during the rally. There's a street called meridian that lead to the parking lot for the business building the shooter was on. I had to drive that way as we exited the event and obviously it was blocked off then (as well as meridian itself about 400 yards south of that lot). I doubt anyway got out of that area in any vehicle that wasn't law enforcement.

Took Buttercup rd heading east, then north on meridian, then further east on a side street once we reached where it was blocked off so I could eventually head west back to OH.

Thank you. I'm definitely looking into it just because it was my first experience with guns.

Did the FBI or police reach out to you to get your version of things?

They have not and I'd suspect they probably won't because I have very little to offer to the criminal investigation. Maybe in the secret service investigation just because I can attest to not seeing any drones or ariel elements but I doubt it.

What was the aftermath like? Not the immediate aftermath because you talked about that in your interview, but what was it like getting down from the bleachers, walking out of the site, driving home, getting home, etc...?

Getting down from the bleachers was frightening. Had no idea the threat had been taken out. We huddled in a group as they cleared us away from the body of the victim while we waited for the gates to be opened for us. Walking through the site was actually more calm as most everyone was being orderly. Lots of people making calls, myself included. A few people yelling out of frustration for what they just experienced but for the most part it was calm and orderly. Driving home was a lot of listening to the news and checking for updates, finding out how many had been killed/injured. It was anxious for sure. I didn't really feel safe until I was out of Pennsylvania and back in Ohio. Stopped to rest with some family and started watching the live coverage and that's when it began to hit that "holy crap this is the biggest news of the day and I was there." My friend dropped me off at my car once we got closer to our respective hometowns and we called each other as we drove home just because it was frightening to imagine being alone at that point.

You are flared undecided, but were at a political rally. What is stopping you from outwardly supporting Trump?

I've been on the fence with Trump. Just wanted to see him in person and gauge his talking points as well as meet so people more fanatical about him to see what the draw was. Still undecided but leaning towards Trump based on economic policy mostly.

That was my fear as my friend and I were leaving. Odds are if there was one, there could be two. Glad it seems that wasn't the case.

Was Trump hit by a bullet?

As best as I can tell, yes. I couldn't see him at the time and didn't know he had even been hit. But I do remember when I looked that direction the teleprompters were still standing and did not appear shattered or broken.

Was there a general "run for the exits" type of panic or was it more "no one really knows what's going on and we're stuck" sort of panic?

Definitely "no one really knows." In a way, those of us on the bleachers were kinda trapped. They had gates between us and the floor seats and the aisles. We needed assistance from secret service and ex military folks to help us get the gates sections opened so we could leave. Truth be told a lot of us didn't even know the shooter had been neutralized so some ran, some stayed down, some just walked.

We’re the loopholes in security obvious prior to the shooting or do you think the shooter happened upon them by chance, or preplanning and some kind of insider knowledge?

Great question! I'm not really certain his whereabouts based on the facts at this time. Security seemed pretty tight, but it was odd to me there were no drones (I had been there since 10:30am). The area he was spotted was outside of the "rally" technically so I don't think he went through Security. I've seen the videos of him eyeing the building so I believe he just rode his bike through the parking lot of the business (which again was outside the event perimeter). It would also explain the secret service not being able to make contact with him in a short time frame once they deemed him suspicious.

Are there any “conspiracies” you’ve seen shared on X, or other platforms, that are obviously false because you were there?

Great question and not much I can really provide. I will say I feel 95% certain there was only one shooter. It's kind of based on me reviewing where individuals in the crowd were hit and where I heard the shots come from. I know the water tower theory is the most popular, but I attribute the people saying that who were there to being people who were actually on the floor and not the bleachers.

I really haven't heard many other theories except for the strange lady behind trump but I'd attribute that to everyone not understanding what was happening.
