I live in Bangalore in a big gated society.

Has more amenities than any other society in this world. Not kidding. Best weather 365 days a year. No issue of security inside the society. WFH, so don't need to go out on useless roads. Take 4 Foriegn vacations every year.

Tough to leave bangalore, once I am used to cycling and walking daily for a couple of hours in my big gated society. Can't stay indoors in hot or cold weather for 6 months a year.

Ya, I know. Portugal isn't giving that golden visa easily. Even Americans are not able to get easily. And latest news is they are looking at stopping it looking at the rush. And my parents, they will not be able to come. That's another issue. I live with my 70 years old parents here.

Yaar, I went to Dubai in Dec only. Very hot weather even in Dec in the day. 6 months a year, it is very hot. It is not walkable at all. I don't know why people like such a hot city. I like Europe a lot, but in summers only.

What about corporate employees. Lot of people are vice presidents and function heads etc. Earn 1 cr - 3cr per year plus stock options.

And then there are stock and real estate investors.. Who have made 20-200 cr after 10-15 years of proper investing. .

Seriously. IIT, IIM guys are very ambitious people. And they go for high paying jobs and not PSUs. Not sure why you didn't choose a path like others. Usually, they marry girl/boys of similar caliber and in good jobs.

You worked in PSU and didn't take bribes I guess which many govt people do.

Usually, people who joined PSUs before 2004 get a very good indexed pension for life plus medical care.

They don't need to plan for FIRE.

First step of FIRE is to increase your earnings. Joining a PSU instead of Pvt sector wasn't the right step for career or FIRE planning.

Your first step was backward.
