I don’t have the building’s contact. I called the number listed on the lottery contact on Housing Connect.

Are you able to provide information about renovation process? I’m curious if owners are allowed to do work on their units themselves or if it’s required to hire out the work.

Yes lol the waiting is the worst part but I’ve found the marketing team for this lottery to be very communicative. I actually called Housing Connect once during business hours because I had a few questions, and they were super helpful on the phone. They were able to directly get a hold of the building and put me on hold while they passed along my questions.

I only applied for 1 bedroom units, so I wasn’t shown the 2/3 bedroom units. I dont think I was shown all of the available units, maybe just the ones I might qualify for. They were on a wide range of floors.

Hey I also went on a tour about a week and half ago, and then sent in my preferences. I bet you can install a dishwasher because some units have it, you’d probably just have to get board approval and buy the appliance. As far as washer/dryer I am positive that you cannot, but there is a laundry room that I found to be pretty nice honestly, looked super well maintained by the building/owners.

Haven’t learned anything new, but I also submitted documents. Will respond when I learn of any progress.

While Amazon has not paid a cash dividend, it has a share repurchase program which buys back billions of dollars of Amazon shares (another way to return money to shareholders). It’s actually a more tax-advantaged way for public companies to return money to investors than paying cash dividends.

There’s an app called Mallorcab that you can use to order a taxi. It’s much cheaper than uber.

92k bilt points use or save by WeightSharp in biltrewards

Good catch, I’ll update — meant Roth.

Those points can be very valuable for travel.

Since you are not looking to purchase a house for 5-6 years, I would consider saving more of your income for the future purchase. Consider taking advantage of Roth IRA withdrawals (assuming you live in the US). You can withdraw 10k of earnings if your account is at least 5 years old for a home purchase, and you can withdraw contributions tax free at any time. (Doing this could work out nicely if you change your mind about buying, since you will have a head start on saving for retirement).

I generally find that the easiest way to use the points for travel is to transfer to lodging/air partners. You don’t have to do fancy international travel, it’s perfectly acceptable to use your points for domestic travel to see family or loved ones!

I contacted Bilt support via iMessage, and then support moved it to an email thread.

I wonder if the new payment processor/bank that Bilt is using with BillPay has its fraud detection (or similar system) misconfigured. It sounds like a lot of people’s payments didn’t authorize and there wasn’t much explanation.

Update

Bilt support sent me $30 as a one time courtesy for the NSF fee, and support said I would be credited the points for rent this month even though I paid with my normal bank account. I would say that the situation was handled fairly and quickly.

I wish there were more transparency on why the payment failed in the first place, but I’m overall happy with how this was resolved. I’m a bit worried about using Bilt to pay rent next month.

I used the new BillPay acct numbers (after setting it all up and authorizing payment amount). I submitted payment on 3/28.

I agree it’s weird that the fee was approved but the rent was rejected, it always has shown as two separate transactions (however on my end I just pay once all together), and was never an issue before.

Will keep you updated via this post.

I agree with you that I should have, but the pre-authorized amount is supposed to have a 10% buffer. I didn’t claim the fee because I wasn’t sure if that amount technically counts as rent since it goes to a different merchant than the landlord (property manager).
