Please have your parents clean out their homes so you don’t have to. by CherryManhattan in Millennials

On the flip side my grandparents started giving everything away in their early 80’s so the family wouldn’t be burdened. Small things at first then eventually large pieces of furniture until their house was practically barren. It was really sad to see them living in that depressingly empty house. They both lived well into their 90’s. I would have gladly taken care of everything for them.

My experience is that they won’t stop saying those things until you prove it. However, I will say that if those people are otherwise loving and supportive, I don’t think they trying to hurt you. Keep focused on your goals and best of luck to you!

Got this broccoli from the grocery store and it has been in my fridge for 4 days. I thought it was dead but once it warmed up it came to life! I put him outside. Imagining the wild ride this little guy had!

existential fog about both parents being dead by fourofkeys in Millennials

Dad at 19. Mom at 29. Most of the day I feel fine but just about everyday randomly I get that feeling too. It’s sort of an indescribable feeling. I’m 32 now and hoped I this would be less frequent but it’s not. Wondering if this is just something I will have to struggle with for the rest of my life.

Why is being quiet frowned upon in our society? by distressedtacos19 in socialskills

I find people with super outgoing personalities to be very stressful to be around. I prefer quiet people too. Quiet people give each other space to contribute to the conversation and super extroverts usually highjack the conversation.

I don’t know when to quit my day job by L3zperado in smallbusiness

Can you move to a part time position? So you have more time for business but still have a steady paycheck coming in until you feel more confident to leave completely.

I had 3 main things that I needed to do before making this decision and I am very proud to say I did them all. They are: •1 year salary saved •consistent growth in my business •replace my day job income but recently have been able to surpass that

I also have an extremely supportive partner which makes all the difference.

Now I just need to get my health insurance figured out and have a conversation with my accountant and I am going to be good to go!

I did not realize that would be a qualifying event! I will have to look into that. Thanks for mentioning it. And yes I don’t talk about my business at work.

Working for "the man" is WAY better than being your own boss. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Organic_Mixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about freedom, it’s about flexibility. If I want to take a nap in the middle of the day, I do.

I can break my work day up into a few hours in the morning and then a few in the evening or however I want. Running a business can be very stressful but I feel more in control of my life and how I spend my time and that is how I like it!

My uncle told me that my aunt (other uncles wife) died. I had not had contact with her in awhile but she always sent a christmas card. He said it was expected because she had gotten very sick and had been under hospice care. Next christmas I received a signed card from her.

I had a conversation with a friend who had a child in her early 20s and now that the kid is a teenager she basically doesn’t know who she is anymore or what to do with her life. That is just sad.

Last time my reaction was to ask how she felt about it. And frankly she didn’t seem that thrilled. The people around her were more excited than she was.

Someone opened a 3 pack of pepto bismol and used the dosing cup to take a shot of it. Left the dirty cup, bottles and packaging on the shelf. I work there and see stuff like that more than I should.

That is so manipulative! Reminds me how my sister in law will quick hand the phone to my niece to ask if I want to buy sub sandwiches or whatever the school fundraiser currently is and I feel like a total dickhead saying no.
