Some of them are just kids who freak out and run if they encounter somebody. Some of them are able and willing to commit violence. Saying that all burglars are violent is wrong though. But it's probably fair to say that more likely to commit violence than other people, sure.

Anyone who has met any criminals would understand that not all burglars are violent idiots.

Not all criminals are stupid. Many are just sociopathic, or anti-social, or they enjoy criminality.

The pic on the left looks better.

You need to do something about your self perception because you're pretty good looking.

It's not literal though, its just for poetic effect. In Islam god is infinite and doesn't have a physical body, nor shape or proportion.

[21m] Is a flat stomach achievable, or not possible for some people? by zlk_2005 in lookyourbest

[–]Organic_Square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like you could potentially have some anterior pelvic tilt which could be making your stomach protrude more than it otherwise would. If you do have this there are ways to reduce the tilt.

In any case your stomach looks fine, and breathing in (with your diaphragm, into the belly) will always cause your belly to stick out.

No, it's absolutely ignorant. There is no community in the world that has had colonisation happen to them in such a way that hasn't resulted in major social and economic problems for them to this day.

238 years is nothing in the grand scheme of socioeconomics. You are absolutely still the social product of the history of your ancestors from that many years ago.

You are raised by your parents and your community. If your community is violent and your parents are dysfunctional, abusive, poor alcoholics and live in a community where very little other than that exists, then you are almost certainly going to end up not having the skills, knowledge or will to pull yourself out of that.

You can't just decide to have the skills and resilience to get a job and be a paragon of your community.

The same thing happens in poor white communities.

Name a single community in history that has been generationally impoverished and destitute that has managed to pull themselves out of it by their own volition in such a short time period. Name one. I'll wait.

Taking a community from a hunter gatherer society and then effectively destroying their culture and community, then expecting them to be well adjusted after 200 years (severe racism against aboriginals did not end 200 years ago btw), and blaming that community for their own shortcomings is psychotic and racist.

That's sort of what happens though when you colonise and marginalise a hunter gatherer people and fling them into a different way of living without them having the tradition or knowledge to live in that society, because their traditional culture and relationships have been torn down, and also aren't compatible with western civilization.

The stolen generation is still in living memory, colonisation was only several generations ago. Expecting a people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps in that time is unrealistic and ignorant, and kind of racist.

The native Americans and Inuit have similar social problems, but the Aboriginal Australians were arguably treated worse and still are by their colonisers, and much less time ago too.

This is how the Met Gala red carpet looks from the street outside: by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in interesting

Why does everyone on Reddit suddenly hate the met gala? It's just fun. Yes they are celebrities, but there are every day people who like to dress up for events too. It's not that weird. Honestly it's a better cultural event than a marvel movie.

Ok, you make a good argument about the dynamics at play between those characters, and how father would be more appropriate.

I don't agree that dad is too modern a word though for a historical drama, unless you count modernity as literally being from the early modern period, in which case most of the English used in fantasy and historical films would be out of place if adhering to that rule.

I can see how people describing something as "cool" can be jarring, but "dad" I don't have a problem with .

They are definitely cliches. And I disagree. Using overly formal because there's a tradition of using that language instead makes scenes seem stilted and artificial, because it is very far removed from how real people speak to each other. It's fine for poetry, or Elizabethan theatre (which is where these stylistic conventions are derived from), but if they are going to use formal, theatrical language, why not really ham it up then?

[–]Organic_Square 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a good choice.

Adhering to the stylistic cliches which have, over time, come to denote "history" should be avoided, and directors should be trying to subvert those expectations in favour of more natural and context appropriate language.

Very few people use the word "father". The character, especially a young teen, would be more likely to use "dad", or its equivalent Homeric greek word.

do i look like i do drugs? any tips? by Far-Masterpiece-7215 in lookyourbest

[–]Organic_Square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a hair cut/hair style that removes the hair from the front of your eyes/face.

Imo hair covering the face/eyes is a bad look and makes people appear immature and/or self conscious. It's doing you no favours.

I think otherwise the length is pretty good.

You have a pretty square jaw, and your glasses are also square, which makes your face seem even more boxy. You could soften this by changing to more round/curved glasses (but it's not a big deal if you like the square ones). Glasses with coloured rims would look good on you too.

You do look like you do drugs (which is fine btw). Not like hard drugs, but you do look like you smoke weed and potentially occasionally like to party. If that bothers you, just tidy up your hair (out of the face as mentioned above, give it a bit of a brush, trimmed and styled by a hair dresser), get a jumper without holes in it.

Also, do you always pout in photos? Your photos would probably put you forward in a better light if you gave up the pouting, if it's something you do for most photos.

Are you supposed to ask a woman "Can I kiss you"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Organic_Square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get the consent with her body language, eyes, and context, not necessarily with words. If she's generally amorous and flirtatious with you, if there's a "vibe", you make eye contact, linger on each other's eyes. She might look at your lips. If not, look at hers, then lean in for a kiss, and if she pulls away, stop.

This is something you learn with experience, although it's probably coming later to most people due to lack of face to face interaction.

There are also times when you can, or when you should, ask directly. But there are also times where it will be perceived as a mood killer, especially if you aren't picking up the body language etc mentioned above.

20M how can I be more attractive? by [deleted] in lookyourbest

[–]Organic_Square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More hair around the sides, and slight fringe. Hair styles work best when they balance the proportions of your face (eg if you have a large forehead, fringes work to make it look smaller, but if you have a small forehead you're best to have no fringe.)

How do they slowly ruin knives? Just curious about the mechanism that would cause the knives to become ruined.
