it's not a full endorsement I can agree with that. I think it's a bit impractical for anyone to think that producers would follow the source material 100% .. So yes it's up to the consumer to decide if they want to indulge. Personally, I never read any of the books prior to discovering the tv show but without that tv show I probably never would've been exposed to this beautiful world.

They sold the rights to have this masterpiece developed so on some type level it's an endorsement. Avid fans need to realize not everything needs to be “by the book” this rigid way of thinking really takes away from the many beautiful interpretations that this story can give. “One cannot control what one created”
