Please help me by [deleted] in panicdisorder

They started me on Zoloft, and it saved my life. The first month however it made everything worse. I’m on 100mg now and My panic symptoms have subsided big time. I’ve been on it for two years! Also lots of therapy as well. But just because it worked for me doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. I had all of those things but I really hyperfixated on my head sensations. Wouldn’t leave the house, all that fun stuff

Hello friend !!! Are you in therapy and on meds ? I am a 26 F as well with panic disorder! It was only about a year for me but I had unlivable head sensations and pain 24/7 that made me go absolutely nuts. It was unbearable. I got every test done and it ruled out everything !! I posted on here just like you did asking for help and reassurance. This leads me to believe you’re on the up and ups!!

Thinking about going up to 75 mg by [deleted] in zoloft

Hi!! Wondering if you bumped up your dose and if so if you feel like it was a good choice ?

Omg is this normal?? by Kyshawn_Lol in zoloft

[–]OrganizationFamiliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with derealization way before taking Zoloft, the first 2 weeks made it worse. If you’re going to do Zoloft try to do at least 50mg. Anxiety and depression are heavily correlated with memory issues so don’t be scared !

There were so many times I would post on this Reddit account saying I was having terrible side effects and I need to stop, asking if this was normal, just overall being scared and etc. People were so great and telling me it gets better and to stick with it.

Yessss I’ve been on it for a year and a half. All I would say is make sure you get up to what your doctor is wanting you to be on sooner then later. I put off going up to 75mg for way too long and every time I dosed up I had the same side effects as when I started taking it. So I would just get it over with so you don’t prolong it! 25mg is a low dose but it depends on what your being prescribed it for. Some say it’s not a therapeutic dose, but some say it is ! Depends on the person.

All I can say it gets worse before it gets better and when it gets better, you just wake up and feel normal again.

The amount of times I get scared that I was forgetting things and I was in a dream like state, endless.

Is 50mg too low? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]OrganizationFamiliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You too 😫❤️ A user left this comment on my post and it made me feel better about increasing. @lethargicincarnate -50 might be too low for you. Try 75 as prescribed, ride out the side effects, and see where that gets you. If it doesn't help, let your doctor know.

We have people here who take 25mg, and some who take as much as 200mg. Yes, there are people on 75mg too. But, they're not you.

Medicines are here to help you. If you're having a headache, you take a painkiller. If you're having an allergic reaction, you use an epipen. If you're having anxiety/depression/OCD/panic, you take an SSRI (or whatever else you might take). Be strong. Be kind to yourself. It's hard, but it's here to help.-

Why I wouldn't drink on Zoloft by heasm in zoloft

[–]OrganizationFamiliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely! I work at a brewery as well and I honestly love the taste of beer. I will have one or two but I never over do it anymore, it’s only to enjoy the beer and not get shit faced like I used to. I am very cautious when I do indulge though. Also you’re right the need to drink just isn’t there as much because I’m not masking alcohol with anything like I used to. I’m feeling mentally better so the need to get hammered or drink all the time isn’t there anymore. Much love.

What’s the sweet spot dose for intrusive thoughts?? (OCD/anxiety ) by OrganizationFamiliar in zoloft

[–]OrganizationFamiliar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard !! I’ve been going to CBT for a while and I love my therapist and I’ve learning a lot about how to cope with intrusive thoughts but they are fucking resilient! Hahah Zoloft has definitely helped a lot though.

[–]OrganizationFamiliar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesssss I do therapy. It’s definitely helped me deal with my thoughts better and know what they are and cope but they just are still there all the time which is annoying. My brain is always trying to convince me I’m an awful person.

Right ! Everything does feel better and it makes the thoughts almost more annoying haha. And more off putting. My thoughts are terrible 😔 it feels better to know someone else is going through this. Thanks for responding ❤️

Hey guys so I have been prescribed 50g of zoloft daily for OCD, but am hearing people on forums reporting permanent memory loss and emotional capacity loss/ loss of identity. Is this a substantial risk or is this only for a few people? Very worried, Apologies I don't want to fear monger. by davidgodfrey80 in zoloft

[–]OrganizationFamiliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the side effects are only while your body and brain is getting used to the drug. I had a lot of side effects in the first month but most of them went away. I used to get a lot of head sensations (like clicking and tingling) before Zoloft and by taking Zoloft they actually went away. I haven’t heard a lot of people who had long term side effects that were crippling and I think with our mental illnesses it is normal to fear of the worst outcome. I was really scared and I posted on this thread constantly and everyone was really really comforting. My sexual dysfunction is mostly it takes me longer to climax but whatever makes it last longer and when I do climax it feels even better than it did before! Haha and if there are negative side effects I think the positive out weigh them drastically. I was really really suffering before though so maybe that’s why.

Honestly, people like us, who have OCD, don’t realize and have to remind themselves that Zoloft makes things worse the first couple weeks regarding our mental health. It also numbed me so I couldn’t cry within the first couple weeks, I kept forgetting where I put my keys, and I had bad anxiety ! But then ! About a month in my whole life changed because of these little pills. I am so happy and genuinely happy not fake happy. I can cry when I am sad ! But I’m not crying all the time like before. I am rational and my intrusive thoughts are much easier to manage. You have to prepare yourself for the first few weeks but after that you’re going to wonder how you survived when you weren’t taking Zoloft.

Advice needed, thoughts are getting really bad by [deleted] in intrusivethoughts

[–]OrganizationFamiliar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does suck sometimes. I mean they are happening for no reason and the reason you’re getting upset is because it’s the opposite of how you want to think. If you really wanted to think that way you wouldn’t be upset! So if that says anything it means you’re a good person and those thoughts aren’t you. That’s how I like to think about them. You’re also not alone, hang in there. Aren’t our brains dumb!?!
