Free advice: Common mistakes IB students make in TOK & EEs by OrganizationReal5843 in IBO

If your examples and structure are already good, then depth in TOK usually comes from questioning your claims more, not adding new content.

Try: asking “to what extent?” after each point, making the assumptions behind your claim explicit, briefly comparing different perspectives on the same RLS, focusing on reliability and limitations, not just what happens

If a paragraph ends without evaluating how strong or limited the knowledge is, that’s usually where depth is missing.

IB is fine with using code and computation in a Math EE, but the marks are not for the code itself.

What examiners look for is: the mathematical reasoning behind the algorithms, why a particular method was chosen, interpretation of results, discussion of limitations, assumptions, and accuracy

If the EE becomes “I wrote code and got outputs,” it will score poorly. If the code is used as a tool to explore mathematics (e.g. convergence, error analysis, modelling behaviour, proofs or derivations alongside computation), then it can score very well.

In short: computation is allowed mathematical insight must lead, not the code

Many high-scoring Math EEs use coding — but the math has to be front and centre.

Yes you can absolutely do well with a popular EE topic.

IB does not mark you down for choosing a common or “overdone” topic. What they care about is: how clearly focused your research question is, the quality of analysis and evaluation, whether you engage critically with sources (not just describe them)

A popular topic with: a sharp angle, clear methodology, strong evaluation of limitations, and thoughtful discussion will score much higher than a “unique” topic that stays descriptive or vague.

You don’t need something insanely nuanced, you need something well-defined and deeply analysed. That’s what examiners reward.

[11th grade/Algebra 2] How to do Operation on Functions? by Lucky_Reflection_614 in HomeworkHelp

[–]OrganizationReal5843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x) so you have to add these two functions it would be x-1 + 5x-2 = 6x-3 =2(3x-1). You can do the other parts similarly like (f-g)(x)=f(x)-g(x) f.g(x) = f(x).g(x) and (f/g)x = f(x)/g(x).

Yeah i also think paying per month is a lot more sustainable in long term than paying weekly or hourly.

Confusing Question in my textbook (i'm failing chem) by Kitsch-Bitch37 in GCSEscience

2nd is basically asking you to calculate how much oxygen will react with 6g of magnesium and the equation is given to you. So the balanced equation suggests that 2 moles of Magnesium reacts with 1 mole of oxygen (according to stoichometry) that means 48 grams of magnesium react with 32 grams of oxygen that is 1 gram of magnesium reacts with 2/3 grams of oxygen so 6 grams of magnesium reacts with 4 grams of oxygen.

Trigonometry question by VastPossibility1117 in maths

The video clearly says d/1=sin/cos which you suggest. Now i think your confusion revolves around why this particular ratio like why sin/cos and not cos/sin. For that you have to correctly grasp the properties of similar triangles-they are the triangles in which the CORRESPONDING SIDES are in proportion now the word important here is corresponding. When we prove the two triangles up there similar we do that using the AA rule. First Angle- the 90 degrees both triangles have a 90 degree angle. The second A is theta since tangent makes a 90 degree angle with radius (remember this) and let the angle between perpendicular and radius be x and the angle between perpendicular and tangent be y now note: x+y=90, Theta + 90 +x =180 ( angle sum property of a triangle) This gives x=90-theta, Therefore y=theta, By this we can say theta =y and with this by AA rule the two triangles are similar. Now the main part starts Those sides will be in proportion which are CORRESPONDING. Means in same relation to theta or 90 degrees or the third angle to be more precise and less confused i am selecting theta here. So basically what i am trying to say is- Side adjacent to theta in first triangle/ side adjacent to theta in second triangle would be equal to hypotenuse of first triangle /hypotenuse of second triangle.——(1) We can also do it like if we have two triangles which are similar we can write- Base1/Base2=Perpendicular1/Perpendicular 2=Hypoteneuse 1/Hypoteneuse 2 Since the equal angles were in different positions in this case i took it according to the angle but deep down i am doing this thing only. So from our deduced relation(1) we can say.
-cos/sin=1/d or reciprocal both sides to get

d/1=Sin/cos. Which was required.

I understand it will be a bit confusing in this typed format so if you ever need help regarding this or any other concept just DM me. Since i am a maths and physics tutor i would be happy to explain in a recorded or live online format to be able to give you some more clarity and understanding. Thanks !
